The industry leader in artificial intelligence solutions, Advantech, has launched the BOXER-8150AI, the latest compact embedded AI edge solution in the BOXER-8100AI series, which uses the NVIDIA Jetson TX2. The BOXER-8150AI is equipped with eight USB 3.0 ports, designed to maximize frame rates by providing higher bandwidth for USB-connected cameras.
The BOXER-8150AI features a powerful NVIDIA Jetson TX2 CPU, with 8GB LPDDR4 memory and 32GB eMMC onboard storage. The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 has a unique design that configures Dual Denver 2 and Quad ARM 57 processors into a single SOC, providing 6-core processing capability. The NVIDIA Jetson TX2 supports up to 256 CUDA cores and AI architectures such as TensorFlow and Caffe, and can be configured to use the customer’s own AI inference software.
The BOXER-8150AI stands out among competitors with its unique eight USB 3.0 ports configuration. The BOXER-8150AI is designed with four USB chips, each controlling a pair of USB 3.0 ports. By dedicating one chip to a pair of ports, each chip handles less overall data traffic, thus increasing the bandwidth for connected devices and allowing the BOXER-8150AI to maximize processing speed and frame rates. Higher frame rates enable AI software to process images more quickly, reliably, and accurately.
With this configuration, the BOXER-8150AI can support up to eight USB-connected cameras or devices, each operating independently of one another. This powerful configuration is ideal for various computer vision applications such as visual inspection, quality control, and facial recognition.
The I/O capabilities of the BOXER-8150AI go beyond just USB ports. The product includes a COM port for easy integration into industrial systems. It also features a Gigabit Ethernet port and two antenna ports for easy connectivity to any type of network, even as a mobile device. Other I/O features include two HDMI 2.0 ports, an SD card slot, USB OTG, and remote power on/off.
The BOXER-8150AI is designed for Industry 4.0, featuring a fanless design and an all-aluminum chassis, capable of withstanding the harsh requirements of any workplace. The product’s operating temperature range is -20°C to 50°C, and the input voltage range is 10 to 24 VDC. Its dimensions are only 30mm, representing another new design from Advantech that can be used in any desired environment.
