Understanding Module Errors 3 and 4 in Set-Top Boxes

Cause Analysis:The set-top box and smart card are bound one-to-one. If the smart card number inserted into the set-top box does not match the smart card number recorded in the user management system, the error “Position Lock Module Error 3” will occur.

When this fault occurs, it can be divided into the following two situations:

One is when the user or seller mistakenly inserts a smart card from another set-top box into this set-top box;
The other situation is when the card has not been moved, but the worker holding the job number has replaced the smart card in the user management system, causing a mismatch between the set-top box and the existing smart card, resulting in “Position Lock Module Error 3”.

Solution:Ask the seller or the worker who opened the account for this machine to check in the user management system whether the smart card bound to this set-top box matches the actual smart card number inserted into the set-top box, and then match the corresponding smart card.

Cause Analysis:

The module upgrade failure, module malfunction, or module reset circuit malfunction causes “Position Lock Module Error 4”.

Solution:

1. If the module upgrade fails, as long as the module is not broken, after the machine is powered on, the set-top box will force the module to upgrade. Do not cut off the power during the process, just wait for the upgrade to complete.

2. If the module is broken or there is a malfunction in the module itself, it needs to be returned for repair.

3. The reset circuit malfunction can also cause module errors during the upgrade process.

4. Relevant circuits can be checked.

5. If the base station information cannot be searched, please contact the installation and maintenance personnel or customer service center.

Note: Repairing Position Lock Module Error 4 requires operation by professionals who understand circuits; individuals should return the product for repair.
