Cause Analysis:

Abnormal contact between the positioning module and the motherboard, or damage to the power supply board/positioning module/motherboard, etc., leading to the set-top box being unable to detect the positioning module.

Specific Repair Methods:

1. Check if the 4V power supply of the module is normal. Currently, the voltage of the module is basically around 4.2V. If the power supply voltage is around 4.2V, it is recommended to lower the voltage slightly to reduce the risk of burning out the module.

2. Check if there are any cold solder joints on the module, and re-solder the pins on both sides, as the module is in a modular form and may have abnormal surface mounting.

3. If the above methods do not work, the only option is to replace the module.

4. When replacing the module, be sure to note:

  • If it is an IMEI number module, use the following two methods::

a. First replace the device, then replace the module (Note: the module used must be the corresponding version of the old module).

b. If you do not want to replace it, after replacing the module, you need to reflash the IMEI number of the original old module into the new module.

  • If it is a L code module, use the following methods:

a. Do not replace the device; after replacing the module, you need to reflash the original old module’s L code into the new module (this is not practical and currently cannot be achieved).

b. Replace the device, and replace it with a new L code module (it must be a new version, otherwise it will trigger a module upgrade), report the data to the manufacturer, and update the relevant data through the repair channel. It is recommended to return the machine with a broken L code module to the factory for repair, as it is relatively difficult for individuals to handle.

Kind Reminder: Repairing Position Lock Module Exception 1 requires operation by professionals who understand circuits. If you do not know how to operate, please return it to the factory for repair to avoid unnecessary losses.

Cause Analysis:

Position Lock Module Exception 2 indicates signature verification failure, in simple terms, it means that the seed information is incorrectly embedded or lost, and the positioning module does not match the motherboard.

Specific Repair Methods:

Repairing new machines:

If it is a new machine, you can use a module repair card (white card) for repair, or replace it with a new E2PROM for repair. During the process, you will see a prompt saying “Module Preparation Successful”; press confirm on the remote control and wait for the yellow OSD box of base station information to pop up or the installation interface to appear, which basically confirms that the seed embedding was successful.

If it is a customer’s returned machine, please note:

Locating machine (no need to replace the device);

a. You can use the module repair card for repair, just wait for “Module Preparation Successful”;

b. You can also replace it with a new E2PROM, and remember to reboot. Note: Seed embedding must use a blank card or test card. A formal card that is “activated” will not trigger the seed embedding process.

Kind Reminder: Repairing Position Lock Module Exception 2 requires operation by professionals who understand circuits. If you do not know how to operate, please return it to the factory for repair to avoid unnecessary losses.
