However, in terms of hardware structure, whether it’s 156 horsepower or 258 horsepower, the B48 engine’s main structure does not differ significantly. The 102 horsepower difference is due to the ECU’s ability to manage power distribution; by tuning the ECU, we can unleash the hidden power of a low-output engine. The theory is simple, but in practice, it tests the technician’s experience level because improper handling can lead to catastrophic engine failures, causing financial damage to the owner.
Choosing an unscrupulous tuning shop often results in modifications that are mostly ineffective, merely satisfying the owner’s psychological needs. This is not the worst case; at most, it’s just a financial scam. If the modifications actually improve performance, and an engine failure occurs at high speeds, don’t assume that the shop owner will take responsibility by saying, “Brother, we’re both car enthusiasts, I’ll cover this!” This is akin to selling fake bird’s nest.
