Psychological Journey
Hello everyone, I am a fellow from the Embedded Development cohort 2, graduated in 2024 from a non-prestigious university. Currently, I am working in Shenzhen as an embedded software developer, earning around 14K monthly, which translates to an annual salary of about 190K.
The main reason I chose to join Wangdao is that my four years of university study made me realize that I was not interested in the work related to my major. After considering various options, I ultimately decided to switch to computer science.
Since I come from a non-technical background and only studied C language for one course during my university years, I faced many challenges during my transition. In the second semester of my junior year, like most of my classmates, I chose to follow the trend and prepare for graduate school. However, my aimless studying yielded little results, and I ultimately failed the entrance exam. After my first failure, I decided to try again, but due to a lack of self-discipline, I struggled to maintain a study routine at home, resulting in another failure. After failing the entrance exam, I learned about the employment program at Wangdao Training Camp, where many non-technical students successfully transitioned to new careers after a few months of study. Thus, I decided to join Wangdao, focusing on embedded IoT.

Learning Experience
The learning intensity at Wangdao is quite high, from 9 AM to 11 PM, six days a week. Considering that I can transition to a new career in just a few months, I feel this intensity is manageable.
The Wangdao curriculum is divided into five stages. Teacher Changfeng is responsible for the C language basics, Teacher Tianming covers Linux and FreeRTOS, Teacher Yuanzhi teaches C++ basics, Teacher Lili focuses on advanced C++ and QT, and finally, Teacher Xingkong handles audio and video.
The teachers at Wangdao are very responsible in their teaching. They explain concepts in depth, and the content is very clear. They ensure that every important detail is communicated, and they guide us through coding step by step. This teaching method allows even complete beginners to grasp the material, which is a significant improvement compared to the professors in my university who only read from PowerPoint slides. During evening study sessions, the teachers are also available to help us with questions. As long as you are willing to learn, the teachers will do their best to assist you.
Life issues are managed by our class supervisor, Sister Panpan, who also monitors our study progress, occasionally checking our phones and our engagement during class. After the course ends, Sister Panpan provides employment guidance, which is particularly helpful for our job search.
The greatest advantage of Wangdao is its unique learning atmosphere; everyone is working hard, making it difficult to slack off. We have weekly group discussions to review our learning progress and summarize the knowledge we’ve acquired. Through these discussions, we can better digest what we’ve learned in class. Besides studying, Wangdao also organizes outings every month to help us relax and recharge.

Interview and Job Search Experience
Regarding interviews, the most important point is to actively seek opportunities after the course ends. If you encounter problems, communicate with your class supervisor promptly; do not think about relaxing for a few days before starting your job search.
Before submitting your resume, make sure to polish it. Write it carefully yourself, then have a teacher review it. Once you are sure it is error-free, you can submit it. You must be clear about the skills and projects mentioned in your resume, as the interviewer may ask about anything listed.
For the project section, first, describe the project content broadly, and be clear about the technical issues related to each function. If you encounter questions you cannot answer, don’t worry; just note them down and research them later. If you do not pass an interview, reflect on what went wrong and avoid making the same mistakes in future interviews.
Lastly, have confidence in yourself during interviews. Do not feel discouraged if you think you are not well-prepared; the first interview will likely have many shortcomings. The more interviews you attend, the better you will perform in subsequent ones.
“Changing careers is not a retreat; it is the courage to actively rewrite one’s life.” — I was lost for a long time until I chose Wangdao. The past five months were not just casual learning; every step rooted in growth: from being clueless in a new field to being able to handle tasks and tackle the ‘impossible.’ If you are also struggling, give Wangdao a try! Taking the first step means you have already surpassed your previous state of confusion.
