On Circuit Boards
Philosophical Insights

—— Roaming Classroom ——
On the production line, circuit boards are neatly arranged, waiting to be assembled, tested, and sent to the next process. Standing in the workshop, looking at these precise green boards, I suddenly feel that they bear some resemblance to life.
The manufacturing of circuit boards requires precise processes. From substrate preparation, graphic transfer, to etching, drilling, and electroplating, every step must be executed with utmost care. Just like every stage in life—education, work, family—one wrong step could lead to a short circuit on the circuit board, causing the entire system to fail. I remember a batch of boards last year that was scrapped because the etching time exceeded by thirty seconds. Isn’t life similar? Those seemingly trivial choices can often have a significant impact years later.
The quality inspection phase is the most thought-provoking. Under the AVI machine, every solder joint must be smooth and full, and every line must be unobstructed. This reminds me of self-reflection in life—should we not also regularly “inspect” our lives? Checking for “cold solder” in our emotions, “broken circuits” in our relationships, and “oxidation” in our ideals? A qualified circuit board must undergo dozens of inspections, but how many self-assessments should a person go through in their growth?
What touches me the most is the repair process of circuit boards. Some boards may seem scrapped, but with the skilled hands of a technician, removing the oxidation layer and re-soldering can bring them back to life. This reminds me of what the old masters in the workshop often say: “There are no absolutely scrapped boards, only those for which the repair method has not yet been found.” On the road of life, we have all had moments when we felt “scrapped,” but perhaps we just need to find the right “repair” method to experience the clarity of “when the mountains and rivers seem impassable, a glimmer of hope appears in the dark willows and blooming flowers.”
Standing in front of the production line in the workshop, I suddenly understand: each of us is a unique circuit board, filled with our own lines and nodes. Some parts may not be perfectly designed, and some solder joints may need rework, but as long as the core functions are intact, there is always the possibility of upgrades and iterations. Looking back at these circuit boards—they are not just industrial products, but metaphors for life, reminding us to carefully navigate each process in the circuit of life.
