The general meaning is that despite OLED dominating the market, there are still many users who insist on using LCD screens. The core reasons for this are mainly two points:1. As OLED screens have developed to their current standard, these two advantages of LCD have become negligible, even to the point of being dismissible.First, let’s talk about the flicker issue. Based on the standards of the second half of 2022, the new OLED screens basically adopt a 1440HZ and 1920HZ high-frequency PWM dimming solution. Although it is not global DC, its flicker has a minimal effect on the human eye, and the discomfort it brings can be ignored. Moreover, many mobile phones launching next year will adopt 2160HZ high-frequency PWM dimming, making flicker no longer a concern for everyone.Next, regarding durability, the lifespan of the current Samsung E5 can reach 60,000 to 100,000 hours, which is much less prone to burn-in compared to OLED screens from three or four years ago. As long as it is used normally, the probability of burn-in occurring after four to five years is extremely low.Therefore, with the advancement of technology, these two major advantages of LCD have become less important, while the advantages of OLED seem to be numerous, such as:1. Lower power consumptionBecause OLED lights up pixel points, turning off when not in use, while LCD screens work all at once, OLED is more energy-efficient.3. Faster responseWhy do people say OLED is more suitable for high refresh rates? Even a 144HZ refresh rate LCD screen is not as smooth as a 120HZ OLED screen because OLED screens have lower latency.4. Thinner and lighterToday’s internal space of mobile phones is very tight, even to the point of being precious. A thinner OLED screen can leave more space inside the phone, and it can also allow for optical screen fingerprint recognition, which is one of its core advantages.5. Can be curvedDo not underestimate this advantage, as many users still prefer curved screens, and high-end domestic mobile phones are almost all curved screens, which is another important advantage of OLED.6. Almost no light leakageBecause LCD has a backlight layer, and many phones have gaps between the frame and the screen, backlight leakage can easily occur, leading to light leakage phenomena.7. Can display pure blackThis is also a core advantage of OLED, as the liquid crystal layer of LCD cannot completely shut off, causing light to leak through when displaying black. In contrast, OLED does not have this issue, so when displaying black, we often see pure black only on OLED.Additionally, another point proving that OLED has more advantages is that whether it is Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, or OPPO, Vivo, all mid-to-high-end mobile phones from these manufacturers use OLED without exception, and even Sony and Sharp, who have their own LCDs, are now using OLED.
