The large room is usually occupied by a family of three, and it looks quite bright at first glance. What problems is Ms. Guan facing? Let’s take a look:

Issue 1: The entrance is too narrow
It turns out that the entrance of Ms. Guan’s home is only about 1.1 meters wide, while a comfortable width is around 1.25-1.3 meters. The narrow entrance currently only has a thin shoe cabinet, which not only fails to meet the storage needs of the family but is also placed far from the entrance door, making it inconvenient to use.

Issue 2: Where to place the piano
Ms. Guan’s child studies piano but lacks a designated area for the piano. The designer measured and found that the living room of Ms. Guan’s house spans about 7.58 meters, much wider than a normal living room span.

The extra space could have been transformed into a piano area, but currently, only a dining table is placed there, which is a waste of space.
Issue 3: The bedroom area is too small
The secondary bedroom where the child sleeps is quite cramped; a bed and a cabinet take up a lot of space, and the adjacent study has a similar situation. The homeowner hopes to optimize the functional divisions of the two bedrooms through this renovation.

Key Focus of this Renovation
In this renovation, the designer mainly combines the actual needs of the homeowner by demolishing and reconstructing non-load-bearing walls to clearly define each functional area and reasonably add more storage space.
Entrance Area
The designer built an L-shaped wall on the left side of the entrance door, utilizing a part of the bathroom’s empty corner, embedding an 80 cm wide entrance cabinet. This renovation does not occupy too much space and also facilitates family members in taking off clothes, changing shoes, and hanging hats when entering and exiting.

Living Room Area
After the renovation, the functional zones of the living room are more distinct: dining area, piano area, and sofa area are clear at a glance. The designer moved the living room sofa to the right, leaving about 2 meters of width for the dining area, while the remaining width is just enough to accommodate the homeowner’s daughter’s 1.5-meter-long piano. Two stylish hexagonal shelves are set above the piano, serving both display and storage functions.

The dining area furniture uses the same black and white tones as the piano, revealing a harmonious beauty. The dining side cabinet combines aesthetics and practicality, while the geometric pendant lamp above the dining table outlines a stylish and minimalist beauty.

The television background wall is made of marble, which is elegant and simple, echoing the abstract paintings on the opposite wall, together creating a space filled with charm. After meals, the family sits on the soft sofa, listening to their daughter play a tune, and life is so beautiful.

The designer modified the non-load-bearing wall between the secondary bedroom and the study in a bow shape, embedding about 60 cm of space to accommodate a 2-meter-wide wardrobe.

For small spaces, a tatami combination cabinet design is always a winning choice, allowing you to achieve the effect of a storage cabinet + bed + wardrobe/bookcase in one go, with outstanding practicality. The vibrant lemon yellow accents create a warm and positive feeling.

In the study area, the designer added a 40 cm bookshelf, leaving about 1.7 meters of width for a desk, which can even accommodate two people working.
The right-side floor-to-ceiling bookshelf creates ample storage space, while the small honeycomb-style wall-mounted shelf on the left becomes a major charm of the space, not only accommodating books but also a number of art pieces.

The master bedroom bedding uses the trendy haze blue tone, which gives a sense of mystery with its slightly grayish and low-purity blue, showcasing the owner’s high taste when paired with gray and white. The wooden accents in the wardrobe add a warm and natural feel to the space.

The kitchen features a linear countertop, allowing for frying, cutting, washing, and retrieving ingredients, with a relatively simple workflow that reduces the owner’s hassle in the kitchen. The open and closed hanging cabinets are more convenient to use. The overall color scheme of the kitchen uses white and natural wood tones, creating a fresh and rustic feel.
