Yesterday, Qualcomm suddenly released a brand new 5G SoC – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G. As the name suggests, it is positioned in the mid-range, between the Snapdragon 730G and Snapdragon 765G.
In terms of main specifications, the Snapdragon 750G is based on Samsung’s 8nm process technology, with a CPU configuration of 2*A77@2.2GHz + 6*[email protected]. The Adreno 619 GPU claims a 10% performance improvement over the Snapdragon 730G, and it integrates X52 dual-mode 5G support.
Other specifications include support for LPDDR4x 2133MHz, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, a maximum support for FHD+ resolution at 120Hz / QHD resolution at 60Hz, and a single camera support of up to 192MP, among others.
As for the mass production timeline and the first terminal, Wang Quanxin, General Manager of Xiaomi’s International Product Technology Department, stated: Xiaomi will bring consumers the first commercial smartphone equipped with the latest Snapdragon 750G. Qualcomm also indicated that commercial terminals featuring the Snapdragon 750G are expected to hit the market by the end of 2020. However, it is still uncertain which specific model it will be; there were speculations that it might be the Redmi Note 10, but recent leaks suggest it may be using the Dimensity chipset, so we will have to wait and see.
Originally, in the mid-range 5G SoC market,
the Snapdragon series only had the 765G, which had limited competitiveness.
Now, with the introduction of the lower-positioned 750G,
it seems to be a bit of an incremental update in the 1K-2K price range.
We will have to see how low the price can go in the future.
