On January 21, Qualcomm launched three new 4G SoCs in New Delhi, India: Snapdragon 720G, Snapdragon 662, and Snapdragon 460. Among them, the Snapdragon 720, as a member of the Snapdragon 7 series, is worth paying attention to in terms of performance.
In terms of specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 (internal code SM7125) is built on a 8nm process, featuring a Kryo™ 465 CPU configuration of 2*A76@2.3GHz + 6*A55@1.8GHz, achieving a performance improvement of 60%. For the GPU, the Snapdragon 720G integrates Adreno 618, supporting HDR 10, with a reported performance increase of 15% compared to Snapdragon 712.
Other specifications include the Snapdragon 720 integrating X15 LTE with a maximum download speed of 800Mbps, supporting 4×4 MIMO, 2CA (2 Carrier Aggregation), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and dual-band GNSS.
In terms of basic specifications, the Snapdragon 720 image ISP supports up to 192MP single camera, 4K/30FPS video recording, QC4.0 fast charging, and supports UFS 2.1 or eMMC flash storage, with a maximum screen resolution of 2520×1080, and refresh rates of 90/120Hz.
According to foreign media reports, this 4G SoC may become a new favorite for many manufacturers in the mid-range market, with Xiaomi likely to be the first to launch it in the first quarter of this year. There are also rumors that realme will launch a Snapdragon 720G product this year, although realme executives previously stated that from the realme X50 onwards, all models will be 5G, and no more 4G phones will be released. Perhaps the rumors are targeting the Indian market?
