On September 16, MediaTek announced that its first flagship SoC based on TSMC’s 2nm process technology has successfully completed the design tape out, and is expected to enter mass production and be launched by the end of 2026, making it one of the first companies to adopt this advanced process.
Although the official product name has not been specified, based on product planning, this chip is undoubtedly the next-generation Dimensity 9 series flagship — Dimensity 9600.
According to reports, TSMC’s 2nm process first adopts nanosheet (Nanosheet) transistor structure, which significantly optimizes performance, power consumption, and yield. Compared to the existing N3E process, logic density is increased by 1.2 times, performance can be improved by up to 18% at the same power consumption, and power consumption can be reduced by approximately 36% at the same performance level.
