Yesterday, Keil MDK was upgraded to version V5.43. According to the upgrade log information, this is just a routine upgrade.

The upgrade includes the AC6 compiler, some software package components and tools, as well as fixes for several bugs.

  • Fixed the issue where the uVision project panel and output console were empty after loading the CMSIS Solution project (*.csolution.yml), preventing cbuild settings from returning errors.

  • Fixed the error where files in the project panel were incorrectly assigned to source groups when importing certain specific legacy format projects.

  • Fixed exceptions raised when importing certain legacy format project files.

  • Fixed missing compiler command line options for the selected custom data path extension co-processor (CDECP) Arm Cortex-M52 base device.

2. AC6 Compiler Upgrade

The Arm Compiler 6 has been upgraded to V6.24.

3. Software Component Upgrade

Compared to the previous version, some of the software components included with Keil have been upgraded, while others have not.

The drivers for downloading debugging tools have also been upgraded, including ST-Link, U-Link, etc.

5. Changes in Software Startup Screen

Almost every version of Keil has a different startup screen for the software, and it feels like the startup interface is also upgraded with each version.

Keil MDK currently supports Windows operating systems, and of course, MDK v6 also has a VS Code plugin that supports the other two systems.

2. Keil MDK Evaluation Version

The Keil MDK evaluation version supports non-commercial use but has a 32 Kbytes code limit.

However, some types of MCUs can be used commercially for free, including: Holtek Cortex-M0+, New Tang Nuvoton, ST’s M0/M0++ core MCUs.
