“Look, this is our marketing center, this is the R&D center, and this is the robot assembly workshop…” Entering Zhejiang Hengdong Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., the new building is taking shape, and Chen Rongheng proudly introduces the company environment while leading the reporters on a tour.
“Hengdong Technology” is an intelligent manufacturing enterprise that integrates R&D innovation and production. CEO Chen Rongheng is a typical “post-90s” individual. “I have loved science fiction movies since I was a child, and now working in this industry feels like fulfilling my childhood dream of robotics,” Chen Rongheng said with a smile. Many peers describe him as “young, solid, and innovative.” It is this steadfast and persistent pursuit of dreams that has turned aspirations into reality.
Since 2017, Chen Rongheng has been studying and starting businesses in Hangzhou, founding several related companies in new materials and robotics, creating an industrial matrix that encompasses new material R&D and intelligent robot manufacturing. As the helmsperson, he leads the “AI + Industrial Internet” strategy, deeply empowering traditional manufacturing with technological innovation to drive the upgrade of the intelligent manufacturing industry. In the field of industry, he has led his team to overcome 12 core technologies, earning recognition as an industry dark horse.
Over the years, Chen Rongheng has led his team to focus on R&D, with the company dedicated to the R&D and manufacturing of intelligent robots and their application in various scenarios. They have obtained 17 invention patents, 50 utility model patents, and 25 software copyrights, establishing a complete independent intellectual property system and leading industrial design and intelligent manufacturing levels in the industry.
In the exhibition hall specially set up by the company, the introduction and application of AI robots are detailed. “Currently, our main products are security patrol robots and the ‘three brothers’ robots for farming, which can be considered the ‘invisible champions’ in the patrol and livestock farming segments of the robotics field,” Chen Rongheng proudly lists the company’s products.
During the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023, the security patrol robot “Officer Bin” developed by the company was deployed, adding a new “black technology” force to the smart security guarantee for the Asian Games. The ‘three brothers’ for farming (health inspection robot, intelligent cleaning robot, intelligent cleaning and disinfection robot) were specifically developed to address pain points in various farms, and the robots can operate in areas that are difficult for humans to access, receiving widespread acclaim. Currently, this category has been applied in 32 large-scale pig farms, saving over 30% in labor costs for individual farms.
The story of Chen Rongheng and Jindong began with an inspection. In 2023, Chen Rongheng was invited by the Jindong District investment promotion team to visit the surrounding area of Jinhua Science and Technology City. Just this one trip deeply attracted him to Jindong’s vibrant economic vitality and first-class business environment.
“We are a technology company, and we pay great attention to the local business environment and government efficiency, and Jindong fully meets these two points.” Chen Rongheng still remembers the scene of the inspection vividly.
“Jindong is developing very rapidly. When we first came here, the location of our company was still a small hillside.” Chen Rongheng recalls. The sun was not strong that day, and the ground was still a bit damp. Their group climbed the small hill, listening to the introduction of the planning of this area by the relevant department heads of Jindong. The surrounding Jinhua Science and Technology City, Jinhua Polytechnic, and Jinyi Lake Technology Innovation Source have all empowered enterprises in the area, which deeply moved him. Thus, he immediately decided to invest and start a business in this land, moving “Hengdong Technology” to Jindong.

It has been proven that Chen Rongheng’s decision was very correct. In less than two years, the Jinyi Lake Technology Innovation Source has rapidly risen, with high-rise buildings springing up and green spaces thriving, gradually revealing a modern industrial park that integrates mountains and water. “I have witnessed the surrounding area grow from nothing, and I can truly feel the full fighting spirit of Jindong’s cadres, working like they have been injected with adrenaline,” Chen Rongheng remarked, noting that from project landing to project production, the government’s service is meticulous and comprehensive.
Once, during the project construction process, there was a problem with the height and width requirements of the production gate not matching the municipal planning road surface. “Because this gate needs to accommodate large vehicles, it must have a certain height and width,” Chen Rongheng explained. The issue was discovered on a weekend, and he contacted district leaders for consultation. That afternoon, the district organized more than ten relevant department heads to hold a meeting to coordinate the matter, and the problem was resolved smoothly that same day.
“The efficiency was really high; I didn’t expect that the issue could be resolved so quickly on a weekend. I was very touched.” Chen Rongheng expressed that Jindong’s service is truly “nanny-style” service, thoughtful and efficient.
In October 2023, the Hengdong Intelligent Technology Xiaoyuan Robot Production Base project commenced. By the end of 2024, the production line will begin operations. Currently, the “Hengdong Technology” office building will also complete renovations this month. The project will inject strong momentum into the industrial upgrade of Jindong District and even Jinhua City. In the future, our district will further optimize policy support around the robotics industry ecosystem, promote deep integration of industry, academia, and research, and create a new high ground for intelligent manufacturing in the Yangtze River Delta.
