Implementation of PLC Data Acquisition and Device Networking with S Series Wireless Modules

1. Product Introduction

In some factories, certain situations, and applications, due to some objective factors, wiring is inconvenient. Therefore, Beichen’s S series wireless modules are very suitable. By placing the S series wireless modules in a stable industrial wireless (AP) network environment, PLC data acquisition and device networking can be achieved.

The S series is suitable for programming, debugging, upper-level monitoring, and device networking of PLCs such as Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Delta, and Panasonic. In addition to supporting wired networking, the S series also supports wireless networking with three modes: AP, STA, and AP+STA. The S series is compatible with the Ethernet protocols of corresponding PLCs, and the network port supports ModbusTCP master-slave communication. It is simple to use and cost-effective, with multiple functions including data acquisition, protocol conversion, and data exchange.

The antennas for the S series wireless modules come in two types: rubber rod and magnetic suction, both of which are standard accessories included with the product.

2. Model Classification

(1) Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron Series (ModbusTCP Master-Slave and Point Table Detection Function)

BCNet-S7200-S: Supports communication with S7-200SMART, S7-1200/1500, S7-200/300/400 Ethernet interfaces, ModbusTCP master-slave communication, and point table detection function. Direct and bridge types can be selected via a dip switch. The direct type has a nine-pin female port that can connect to Siemens and Proface touch screens and master stations, while the bridge type can connect to non-Siemens touch screens.

BCNet-S7300-S: Supports communication with S7-200SMART, S7-1200/1500, S7-200/300/400 Ethernet interfaces, ModbusTCP master-slave communication, and point table detection function. Direct and bridge types can be selected via a dip switch. The direct type has a nine-pin female port that supports multiple master communication, while the bridge type supports ModbusRTU master-slave communication.

BCNet-FX-S: Supports Mitsubishi MC Ethernet protocol and ModbusTCP master-slave communication, supports point table detection function.

BCNet-CP/CJ-S: Supports Omron FINS Ethernet protocol and ModbusTCP master-slave communication, supports point table detection function.

(2) Cross-Network Access and Protocol Conversion (IP Address Conversion, Siemens, Mitsubishi Network Protocol Conversion)

ETH-NAT-S: Equipped with three physical interfaces, LAN1 and LAN2 ports each have independent local area network capabilities, and the WiFi interface has wireless networking capabilities, supporting AP/STA modes. The LAN1 port has four RJ45 interfaces with switch functionality, mainly used for connecting PLCs; the LAN2 port has a single RJ45 interface, mainly used for connecting to the upper-level computer. The WiFi interface has an external antenna for connecting to the upper-level computer.

XCNet-PN-S: LAN1/LAN2/WIFI have cross-network functionality, capable of converting the S7TCP protocol from the LAN1 port to the ModbusTCP protocol and BCNetS7 (S7TCP/IP) protocol on the LAN2/WIFI interfaces. LAN2/WIFI supports ModbusTCP master-slave communication functionality.

XCNet-FX5U-S: LAN1/LAN2/WIFI have cross-network functionality, capable of mapping the LAN1 port to an SLMP (MC3E) server, supporting ModbusTCP master-slave communication functionality without needing PLC programming.

XCNet-MIT-S: LAN1/LAN2/WIFI have cross-network functionality, capable of automatically mapping the Mitsubishi MELSOFT protocol from the LAN1 port to the ModbusTCP protocol and MC (3E frame) server on the LAN2 port.

(3) Protocol Gateway (ModbusRTU to ModbusTCP, PROFINET to ModbusRTU, ModbusTCP)

BCNet-MB-S: Uses a plug-and-play design, does not occupy the communication port of ModbusASCII/RTU devices, supports most SCADA software in the industrial control field, and supports ModbusTCP and ModbusUDP communication methods.

XCNet-MB-S: A high-performance protocol conversion gateway that can achieve ModbusRTU serial communication and ModbusTCP master-slave communication for Siemens PLCs with Ethernet interfaces (S7-1200/1500). Supports two-way ModbusRTU master-slave communication, requires no PLC programming, and no GSD file import. The LAN/WIFI of XCNet-MB-S integrates ModbusTCP and BCNetS7 server communication functions, allowing for free editing of Modbus mapping relationships; integrates data exchange functions, supporting data exchange between PLCs with Ethernet interfaces such as Siemens S7-1200/1500 and SMART S7-200; integrates ModbusTCP client functionality, allowing for reading and writing to ModbusTCP slave devices without PLC programming.

(4) Other Models (Panasonic, Delta, Xinjie, Mitsubishi, Schneider, etc.)

Other models in the S series include: Panasonic FP series, Delta DVP series, Xinjie XC/XD/XL series, Mitsubishi Q series, Schneider M series, etc. The above includes the wireless versions of BCNet-FP, BCNet-DVP, BCNet-XJ, BCNet-Q, and BCNet-SC.
