Many people ask if there is a plugin for OpenWrt application filtering that can be installed. I have replied to many users, but later I couldn’t keep up with the replies and clearly stated in the project that it is not supported, because it is too troublesome to be compatible with various OpenWrt versions, and domestic users generally use firmware released by third parties.
To make application filtering easier to install, a plugin based on the official firmware was released some time ago. The reason why the plugin can be released is that the installation firmware version is restricted, and it must be exactly the same version to be installed successfully. Although it is a bit troublesome, at least it provides a way to install.
More installation methods for firmware versions will be provided later, which will automatically detect the kernel version through the cloud for synchronized installation, so that more people can use the application filtering function.
Here, let me explain how to download the official OpenWrt firmware to install the application filtering plugin.
The official firmware is a relatively clean version, and the version number is also relatively clear, so plugins can be released based on the specified version, including kernel plugins.
Taking the Redmi AC2100 as an example, first go to the OpenWrt official website to download the firmware, select version 22.03.2.
After downloading, directly upgrade the firmware. I believe everyone knows how to upgrade, so I won’t say much about it.
After the upgrade is complete, first update the software list, then search for base-zh-cn, find the Chinese language pack, click install to install, so that the menu will be in Chinese.
Now you can start installing the application filtering plugin package. First go to the GitHub release page to download the plugin package.

Select the compressed package with the words ramips mt7621, note that the OpenWrt version is 22.03.2, which is consistent with the firmware version we upgraded. If the versions are inconsistent, the plugin installation will fail.
After downloading, unzip it, which contains five ipk files, and we need to install them one by one.

Installation Method
Go to the software center, click Upload Package to select the ipk file for installation.
After the installation is complete, refresh the entire interface, and you can see the application filtering menu in the services.
