Have you seen houses “printed” by robotic arms? This is not a science fiction movie, but a revolution in construction that is currently happening!
3D printing in construction is disrupting traditional building methods, allowing a robotic arm to layer the walls of a house on an open construction site. The seemingly fragile gray material has been specially modified, incorporating fibers and eco-friendly aggregates, making it easy to extrude and quickly set. What’s even more reassuring is that these houses are not entirely printed—reinforced steel and cast-in-place concrete are still used internally, fully complying with traditional building standards. Tests by the China Earthquake Administration show that this structure can even withstand a magnitude nine earthquake!
