The school was established in 2000, originally named “Heilongjiang Guangsha College”. In March 2003, with the approval of the Heilongjiang Provincial Government, it cooperated with Harbin University of Commerce and was renamed “Harbin University of Commerce Guangsha College”. In October of the same year, it was recognized by the Ministry of Education as an independent undergraduate college. In 2005, after a special inspection by a team of experts from the Ministry of Education on 249 independent colleges nationwide, the college was recognized as one of the top 100 independent colleges in the country and was rated as a national AAA integrity unit for quality, reputation, and service; in March 2012, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to be transformed into a private ordinary undergraduate higher education institution and was renamed “Harbin Guangsha College”.
