
On July 15, 2025, the Asia Data Center Summit and Exhibition (Data Center Asia) kicked off in Hong Kong, China. The Global Computing Alliance (GCC) was invited to attend, and Mr. Miao Fuyou, CTO of the secretariat, delivered a keynote speech titled “Dual-Zero Initiative: Mission on Material Compatibility to Accelerate Liquid-Cooling Deployment”, focusing deeply on the compatibility issues of liquid cooling working fluids and materials, and participated in the roundtable forum on “Liquid Cooling Technology Implementation and the ‘Dual-Zero Initiative'”, discussing the development of liquid cooling technology with industry peers.

In his keynote speech, Mr. Miao Fuyou elaborated on the core topic of liquid cooling working fluids and material compatibility. He pointed out that with the continuous evolution of AI cluster devices, the computing density and power density have significantly increased, making the application of liquid cooling systems in data centers increasingly widespread. However, the diversity of liquid cooling working fluids and the variety of materials such as pipes, joints, and valves have made compatibility issues between them increasingly prominent, which not only affects the deployment efficiency of liquid cooling servers but also poses a serious threat to their operational reliability.

In response to this, Mr. Miao Fuyou detailed the “Dual-Zero Initiative”. The “Dual-Zero Initiative” aims for “zero wait for liquid cooling room deployment and zero accidents during operation”. This plan is jointly initiated by multiple industry organizations, aiming to achieve the goal of “zero wait for deployment and zero accidents during operation” by addressing issues such as compatibility between working fluids and materials. In terms of implementation, the “Dual-Zero Initiative” will unify testing methods across various links in the industry chain, jointly formulate testing plans, publish compatibility reports and results for liquid cooling secondary side equipment, materials, and working fluids, and create a recommended vendor and material resource pool that will be published online. Based on feedback from actual operational data of participants in the Dual-Zero Initiative, this resource pool will be continuously adjusted and updated to address the pain points of having no standards and inconsistent lists for material compatibility.
Regarding the timeline for the action plan, there are clear key time points for testing compatibility between working fluids and materials: the testing plan is scheduled to be approved by the management team by July 31, 2025. Currently, the compatibility testing method for ethylene glycol working fluid has been finalized, and the testing plan for deionized water is under intensive discussion and drafting; the deadline for the first batch of registrations is August 15, 2025, with the registration for ethylene glycol working fluid compatibility testing closing soon, and the registration for deionized water testing will be initiated shortly; the deadline for submitting the first batch of testing reports is October 31, 2025; and the publication date for the first batch of lists is November 15, 2025.

The roundtable forum at this summit was hosted by Zhang Guangbin, founder of the Yi Qi Research Institute, with guests including Mr. Miao Fuyou, CTO of the Global Computing Alliance (GCC) secretariat, Mr. Zhang Peng, CTO of SLiquid Global, Mr. Tang Hu, CTO of ProLogis (GLP) China, and Mr. Lü Yunbo, General Manager of the Intelligent Computing Center Division of Tongfei Co., Ltd., who engaged in in-depth discussions on “Liquid Cooling Technology Implementation and the ‘Dual-Zero Initiative'”.
During the forum, the guests shared their views on the pain points of compatibility between working fluids and materials in the actual deployment of liquid cooling technology. Mr. Miao Fuyou shared the progress and plans of the “Dual-Zero Initiative” in addressing these issues, emphasizing the importance of promoting the standardization and normalization of liquid cooling technology through industry collaboration to achieve the goal of “zero wait for deployment and zero accidents during operation”. Mr. Lü Yunbo also shared the company’s experiences in the practice of liquid cooling technology, particularly in enhancing the reliability of liquid cooling equipment and rapid deployment, aligning with the philosophy of the “Dual-Zero Initiative”.
The “Dual-Zero Initiative” has received support from numerous participants in the industry chain, including the organizing body Global Computing Alliance (GCC) Open Liquid Cooling Professional Committee, the China Electronic Industry Standardization Technology Association (CESA) Open Computing Standard Working Committee, and other four organizations, eight user units, seven server manufacturers, one testing agency, and the Yi Qi Research Institute, forming a management team. Over 70 enterprises in the liquid cooling industry chain, covering all aspects of the industry chain, have formed a strong collaborative force to jointly promote the advancement and application of liquid cooling technology, currently focusing on material compatibility issues, with plans to expand to best practices in engineering and maintenance in the future, targeting industry pain points to accelerate the deployment of liquid cooling technology.
