From Self-Doubt to an Annual Salary of 195K+: C++ Became My Salvation!

01

Current Situation: The Starting Point of a New Journey

I am a student from the 65th session of the Wangdao Training Camp for C++, currently employed at a company in Beijing with a salary of 15K*13, totaling an annual salary of 195K. I graduated from Henan Polytechnic University and, after two unsuccessful attempts at the postgraduate entrance examination, I finally found a new direction here. Now I have successfully started my job; although the company is not large, it has a strong technical atmosphere, providing me with a solid platform for growth.

Period of Confusion: Choices After Failing the Postgraduate Entrance Exam

Looking back at my university and postgraduate entrance exam journey, it has been a mix of ups and downs and growth. I attended Henan Polytechnic University, where I performed reasonably well during my undergraduate studies and harbored dreams of pursuing further education at a higher institution. However, I attempted the postgraduate entrance exam twice, but for various reasons, I missed out on my ideal schools. After the second attempt, I fell into deep self-doubt. At that time, I realized I had to make a new choice for my future—rather than continue wandering down a path with no visible results, I should turn to employment and use my skills to create opportunities for myself.

Connection with Wangdao: A New Hope in a Turning Point

It was at that confusing turning point that I began to prepare to choose a training institution, because I had chosen Wangdao’s study materials during my postgraduate exam preparation, which left me with a good impression of Wangdao, leading me to naturally choose the Wangdao Training Camp. I remember I decided to attend the training camp just before it started; I was somewhat anxious about the training, but I also looked forward to meeting the teacher who had accompanied me during my online courses for the exam (unfortunately, I didn’t get to meet them, which was a bit regrettable, but I did meet other excellent teachers like Teacher Jing Tian and Teacher Ni Qiu). I decided to give myself a chance and embarked on a journey to Wuhan alone.

Time at the Training Camp: Technical Improvement and Warm Memories

The four months at Wangdao were the period of my fastest technical growth and the greatest change in mindset. The teachers here teach very thoroughly, covering everything from C++ basic features to Linux system programming, from STL source code to project design patterns, with each aspect explained in an easy-to-understand manner. What impressed me the most was that the teachers would break down complex concepts into examples that we could easily understand and would also guide us to handwrite code to understand the underlying implementations. Besides learning, the training camp was also full of warmth. The teachers would regularly organize team-building activities, taking us to enjoy Wuhan’s local delicacies—hot dry noodles, bean skin, crayfish… these flavors still make me nostalgic. In such a tense yet lively atmosphere, I not only improved my coding skills but also met a group of like-minded partners.

Job Hunting Experience: Solid Foundation Brings Unexpected Joy

My job hunting process was smoother than I expected. As soon as the training camp ended, I immediately started creating my resume, and with the help of my responsible teacher, I revised it repeatedly until the technical points and project descriptions were clear and prominent. I mainly applied through Boss Zhipin and was pleasantly surprised that the first company I interviewed with led to a final offer. I remember the initial interview was an online technical interview; after it ended, I felt I performed just okay, and I didn’t answer some questions perfectly, so I had little hope. However, the next day, I received a notification for an offline written test. The written test had a considerable amount of questions, and some were on topics I had not encountered before, but many were related to C++ fundamentals, data structures, and Linux knowledge—these were precisely the areas I had practiced most solidly at Wangdao. I remained calm and ultimately passed successfully, receiving a job offer.

Experience After Joining: Applying Knowledge and Continuous Growth

Now I have been employed for nearly three months and have gradually adapted to the rhythm of a real development environment. We are currently working on a data collection and monitoring platform, using the C++ foundational knowledge, multithreading techniques, and Linux knowledge that I learned in depth during the training camp. Sometimes when I encounter difficult problems, I still refer back to my notes from that time for ideas. I am very grateful that the foundation laid at Wangdao has allowed me to face real work without panic and has given me the confidence to go further on my future career path.

If you, like me, have experienced setbacks in the postgraduate entrance exam or lack confidence in your professional abilities, I want to say, there are no wasted paths in life; every attempt shapes a better you. What matters is not where you start, but whether you are willing to take action for change. I am grateful to Wangdao Training Camp and to the self who did not give up. May we all continue to move forward on our own paths, realizing our value!
