Years ago, when the US-China trade war just started, I asserted that this wave of foolish operations by the US would only promote the localization process in China. As expected, in the following years, domestic chip manufacturers exploded in growth like bamboo shoots after rain. In just a few years, the number of chip-related enterprises in China reached 239,800, although more than 10,000 closed down, several companies have survived the hardships and risen to leading positions.
While the localization of chips is progressing, Arm-based PCs are also advancing on another front. Since Apple successfully transitioned the MacBook from x86 to Arm, many giants like Qualcomm and Nvidia have actively developed Arm PCs. When these two meet, it led to the creation of the Yulanben by Gedu Technology – a laptop based on Rockchip’s RK3588. This laptop uses the RK3588 SoC chip as the core hardware, adopting advanced 8nm process technology, integrating 8 Arm v8 architecture CPUs, with 4 Cortex-A76 and 4 Cortex-A55, a total of 8 CPU cores, working together using Big.Little technology to meet both high performance and low power consumption needs.
The first time I heard about Yulanben was during a lecture by Professor Zhang Yinkui. That day, Professor Zhang was explaining UEFI programming, using Yulanben for demonstration, and surprisingly, it could run Windows 11 on Arm. I was amazed at that moment, so I immediately ordered an Arm PC development kit (GDK800), and today it finally arrived, so I couldn’t wait to start experiencing it.
Appearance
This laptop has a 14″ screen, making it look compact and lightweight. The all-metal shell gives it a premium feel. The color is silver-gray, elegant and simple. When you open the lid, there is a Yulan logo in the lower right corner, which makes this laptop look noble and elegant.

The only downside is that there is no Gedu Technology logo on the outside of the lid, which makes it feel like a counterfeit product. If I get a chance to see Professor Zhang, I will definitely suggest this to him.
Is the interface smooth?
When I turned on the machine and the official Windows 11 wallpaper appeared on the screen, I was thrilled. The picture quality is clear, the lines are soft, and the colors are bright, making it very comfortable overall.

Moving the mouse, operating the keyboard, clicking menus, all operations are very smooth. The keyboard sound is light, the key depth is appropriate, not too hard, nor too sensitive to press the wrong key frequently.
Can x86 applications run?
Compatibility is probably the most concerning issue for everyone. The Microsoft official website clearly states that Windows 11 on Arm supports all existing 32-bit and 64-bit x86 applications (without any modification needed). To verify this claim, I installed a large Siemens industrial software TIA Portal V16, and it ran well. TIA Portal is an integrated automation software released by Siemens Industrial Automation Group in 2010, and V16 is its latest version with an installation file size of 2GB. It can run normally on Windows 11 on Arm, proving that Microsoft’s promotion is not false.

Tencent Meeting and WeChat
As ordinary people, we are probably most concerned about Tencent Meeting and WeChat, as these two applications are used constantly. The actual situation is that they run perfectly on Yulanben.

Camera and Microphone
In meetings, a camera and microphone are essential, so let’s see if they work properly. In Tencent Meeting, I joined a meeting, selected “Turn on camera when joining”, and the microphone was checked by default. After confirming, I entered the meeting. I could clearly see my avatar, and the colors were no different from other computers. The microphone also worked normally.

There are many other features to be examined, but today’s sharing ends here. If you have any thoughts or questions, feel free to leave a message in the comments. If you like my article, please follow and share.
