Vehicle E/E System Based on ISO26262

This article summarizes the fault injection testing method for vehicle electronic and electrical systems based on the ISO26262 standard.

Based on ISO26262 “Functional Safety of Road Vehicles” standard, taking the fault injection test of the vehicle Electronic Stability Control system (ESC) as an example, diagnostic coverage requirements and corresponding typical failure modes of sensors are defined according to the vehicle safety integrity level (ASIL), a fault injection circuit suitable for the daisy chain CAN bus architecture is designed, and test cases and evaluation criteria are developed and tested on actual vehicles. The results show that the designed testing method can effectively verify the safety mechanisms related to the vehicle electronic and electrical systems and can perform functional safety assessments of the system.

This article concludes that based on the ISO26262 “Functional Safety of Road Vehicles” standard, a fault injection testing method for electronic and electrical systems based on the vehicle bus fault injection technology has been developed. The test results show that this fault injection testing method can effectively isolate and test the system without changing the internal settings of the original vehicle under test ESC system, achieving functional safety verification and assessment of real products, especially suitable for vehicle manufacturers’ independent functional safety inspection of vehicle systems.
