Common Touchscreen All-in-One Machine Fault Solutions (Part 1)

1. Touchscreen Inaccuracy [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A five-wire resistive touchscreen does not perform the corresponding operation correctly when touched on the display screen.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

This phenomenon may indicate a calibration issue with the resistive screen.

The screen calibration program can be run under the following circumstances: (Open the touchscreen software calibration program on the desktop) 1) After the initial installation of the driver software.

2) Each time the display resolution or mode is changed.

3) Each time the display area is adjusted.

4) Each time the controller frequency is adjusted.

5) Each time the cursor does not align with the touch point.

After calibration, the calibrated data is stored in the controller’s register, so there is no need to recalibrate the screen each time the system starts.

2. No Response from Touchscreen [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen does not work, and there is no response when any area is touched.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

First, check if any wiring interfaces are loose, and then check if there are any conflicts with the serial port and interrupt number. If there is a conflict, resources should be adjusted to avoid it. Also check if there are any cracks on the surface of the touchscreen; if there are, it should be replaced promptly.

If all of the above parts are normal, you can check the touchscreen using a replacement method: first replace the control box, then replace the touchscreen, and finally replace the main unit.

The following inspections can be performed:

1) Check if the wiring of the touchscreen is correct, including whether one of the wires connected to the main unit’s keyboard port (which takes 5 volts from the keyboard port for the touchscreen’s working voltage) is connected. Please check the wiring.

2) If the above situations are confirmed not to be the case, please uninstall the touchscreen driver and restart the computer to reinstall the driver.

3) If the touchscreen has been used for a long period (3-4 years) and certain areas do not respond, it may be broken and should be replaced.

3. Long Response Time of Touchscreen [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen takes a long time to respond after being touched with a finger.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

This may be caused by a virus in the main unit or a disordered system.

1) First, check if the main unit has a virus; if so, remove it.

2) If there is a problem with the system, check if it can be adjusted; if not, reload the system.

4. Partial No Response from Touchscreen [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen does not respond in certain areas when touched with a finger.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

This may be due to a hard object scraping off part of the touchscreen, which cannot be repaired.

5. Touchscreen Works but Computer Cannot Operate [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen itself works perfectly, but when connected to the main unit, the computer cannot operate.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

This may occur if the touchscreen control card receives an operation signal before the main unit loads the touchscreen driver. Simply power off and restart the computer.

6. No Response from Touchscreen After Installing Driver for the First Time [ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen does not respond after installing the driver for the first time.

[ Fault Analysis and Handling ]

First, confirm whether the touchscreen wiring is connected correctly; if not, power off and correctly connect all wires. Then check if there are any conflicts with the serial port resources in the main unit, and check and adjust all hardware devices.

7. No Response After Using for Some Time.

[ Fault Phenomenon ]

A touchscreen works normally after powering on but becomes unresponsive after a period of use.

Check if the hard disk is set to turn off in the “Power Saving Settings” of Windows 2000. The method is to right-click on the desktop, select the “Properties” command, then select the “Screen Saver” tab from the dialog box, click the “Settings” button, and set the parameters to “Always On” for the “Power Scheme” and “Never” for all others.
