Steps to Address the Issues:
1. First, check the battery level of the LCD key: We can use a USB cable to charge the key for at least 30 minutes. Then try to see if various functions are restored; if not, move on to the next step.
2. Perform a soft reset of the LCD key. The specific method is: press the 【7】 button in the image above for more than 20 seconds, then check if the functions of the key are restored.
3. Perform a hardware reset of the LCD key. The specific method is: simultaneously press the 【2】 and 【4】 buttons in the image above for more than 8 seconds, then check if the functions of the key are restored.
4. Open the back of the LCD key, remove the battery, and then reinstall it for a complete reset of the key. Then check if the functions of the key are restored.
5. If none of the above works, you will need to visit a dealership. Through the above four steps, we can determine if the key is broken or if there is an issue with the vehicle’s programming. Therefore, you can first try to reprogram the entire vehicle.
6. The last step is to replace the LCD key.
Tips:About the power management logic of the LCD key battery
1. First reminder of low battery will be displayed on the key’s display as shown in the image below:
At the same time, a warning message will also be received inside the vehicle.
2. Second reminder
If you forget to charge the key after the first low battery reminder, not long after, the LCD display will show the following content:
After this reminder, the display will automatically turn off and become unusable.
3. After the display is turned off, the lock, unlock, trunk, and home lighting functions on the key can still be used until the key battery is completely drained. Once you recharge it, the display can be used again.
4. Once the lock, unlock, trunk, and other function buttons are no longer usable, the key battery will enter self-protection mode, and the key can only be used for emergency vehicle starting.
PS: How to start the vehicle in an emergency with the LCD key?
a. Vehicles equipped with an LCD key come with a separate mechanical key from the factory, which should be used to open the door. So keep this key safe!
b. Press the brake pedal, hold the LCD key close to the key icon on the steering column, and then press the start button within 10 seconds.
