Today, Xilinx announces a new product line and three latest devices in the Zynq-7000 SoC and Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC families!
The new product line is called the Zynq Z-7000S series, with three new devices: Zynq Z-7007S, Zynq Z-7012S, and Zynq Z-7014S. The Zynq Z-7000S devices are specifically designed for smaller embedded designs, making them smaller and slightly slower than other members of the Zynq 7000 SoC series — but this slowness is relative, as these devices still offer the high-performance advantages of on-chip programmable logic just like their other siblings.
The differences between the new Zynq Z-7000S series and other Zynq Z-7000 device series lie in two key features: the Zynq Z-7000S series devices feature only one ARM Cortex-A9 processor core (whereas other members of the Zynq Z-7000 SoC have dual ARM Cortex-A9 processor cores); the microprocessor clock rate in the Zynq Z-7000S can reach up to 766MHz, while other members of the Zynq-7000 SoC can reach clock rates of 866MHz to 1GHz. Another significant difference is that the three new Zynq Z-7000S members have relatively fewer on-chip programmable logic resources compared to other Zynq-7000 SoC members.
The table below is sourced from the Xilinx Zynq Z-7000 SoC selection guide, comparing all ten Zynq-7000 SoC devices:

According to 2015 UBM Electronics Embedded Market Research, over 50% of embedded system designs use only one microprocessor, and this has been a fact since 2011. The three brand new Xilinx Zynq Z-7000S devices can provide designers with more options for smaller embedded system designs.
