Background:
Smart home technology is a manifestation of the Internet’s influence on the Internet of Things (IoT). It connects various devices in the home (such as audio and video devices, lighting systems, curtain control, air conditioning control, security systems, digital cinema systems, audio servers, media cabinet systems, networked appliances, etc.) through IoT technology, providing functions and means such as appliance control, lighting control, remote telephone control, indoor and outdoor remote control, anti-theft alarms, environmental monitoring, HVAC control, infrared forwarding, and programmable timer control. Compared to ordinary homes, smart homes not only have traditional residential functions but also incorporate building, network communication, information appliances, and device automation, providing comprehensive information interaction capabilities, and even saving costs on various energy expenses.
The concept of smart homes originated early, but there were no specific architectural cases until 1984 when United Technologies Corporation applied the concept of information integration of building equipment in the CityPlace Building in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, marking the emergence of the first “smart building” and opening the door for the construction of smart homes worldwide.
