In simple terms, it connects some of the devices in our homes (such as audio and video, curtains, air conditioning, refrigerators, monitoring, security, home theater, background music, lighting, etc.) together.
Development Background:
Smart home is the embodiment of the Internet’s influence through the Internet of Things. Smart homes connect various devices in the home (such as audio and video equipment, lighting systems, curtain control, air conditioning control, security systems, digital cinema systems, audio servers, media cabinet systems, networked appliances, etc.) through IoT technology, providing functions and means such as appliance control, lighting control, remote telephone control, indoor and outdoor remote control, anti-theft alarms, environmental monitoring, HVAC control, infrared forwarding, and programmable timing control. Compared to ordinary homes, smart homes not only have traditional living functions but also incorporate architecture, network communication, information appliances, and equipment automation, providing comprehensive information interaction functions, and even saving costs on various energy expenses.
The concept of smart homes originated early, but there were no specific architectural cases until 1984 when United Technologies Building System applied the concept of building equipment informatization and integration to the CityPlace Building in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, marking the emergence of the first “smart building”, thus opening the curtain for the world to compete in building smart homes.
