The first Smart Crawler Competition of the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology’s Student Science and Technology Association was held as scheduled in 2017. This event not only developed students’ innovation abilities but also inspired many technology enthusiasts to experience the beauty of science through hands-on activities. As of April 20, we have received submissions from 31 technology enthusiasts. After preliminary screening, 19 outstanding works have been selected to participate in the voting for the Smart Crawler Aesthetics Award. Everyone can vote for their favorite work by following the WeChat public platform (WeChat ID: nuist-kx) and replying with “vote” in the backend.

Smart Crawler: Using the Arduino UNO R3 development board as the main control chip, utilizing an ultrasonic module as a distance detection sensor, and employing servos as the power mechanism for the crawler, the direction of the crawler is achieved through the phase difference of the rotation of two servos. Our contestants have already created many cute little “crawlers”; let’s see which “crawler” is cuter!
