Similar to last year’s iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, Apple will also release three brand new iPhone 11 models this year.The iPhone 11 will be powered by the A13 chip, with the internal platform codename Cebu, and the model number T8030.
Last year, Apple added a USB-C port to the iPad Pro, leading many to speculate that this year’s iPhone 11 would also adopt USB-C, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.According to insiders who have seen the iPhone 11, all three models will still use the Lightning connector.
The internal code names for the iPhone 11 are D42 (iPhone12,3) replacing the iPhone XS, D43 (iPhone12,5) replacing the iPhone XS Max, and N104 (iPhone12,1) replacing the iPhone XR.D42 and D43 will feature 3x OLED Retina displays, while N104 will use a 2x Liquid Retina display, similar to the current iPhone XR.Additionally, there will be no change in resolution for the three new iPhone 11 models.
This year’s iPhone 11 will use a new type of Taptic Engine vibration motor, with the internal codename leap haptics.Currently, the characteristics of this new vibration motor are unclear, but it may be aimed at improving Haptic Touch.According to various reports, this year’s new iPhone will not support 3D Touch, so an improvement in the Taptic Engine is necessary.
3D Touch first appeared on the iPhone 6s and has never been available on any iPad.iOS 13 allows the iPad and iPod Touch to support Taptic Touch, which only requires a long press on the screen.The changes in iOS 13 and hardware improvements can still provide a similar experience after the removal of 3D Touch.
This year’s iPhone 11 will feature three rear cameras, with the additional camera being an ultra-wide lens.In addition to taking photos and recording videos, Apple has also added a Smart Frame feature, which can capture the area around the frame in photos and videos so users can adjust the frame or perform automatic perspective and cropping corrections in post-processing.For privacy reasons, additional information will be retained for a limited time and then automatically deleted.
Finally, the front camera of the iPhone 11 will also be upgraded to support 120fps slow-motion video recording.
