Transitioning from a Regular University to Embedded Systems in the Military Industry with an Annual Salary of 144K!

I am a graduate from a regular university in 2024, after nearly 5 months of embedded training, I finally entered the military industry with a salary of 12k*12 (annual salary of 144K).

Journey into the Industry

Hello everyone, I am a student from the third batch of embedded training. After graduating with a degree in Automation in 2024, I self-studied embedded-related courses for two months. Finding a job was not smooth, so I took a position in after-sales support that required frequent travel.

I have never liked this travel-intensive job. During my time there, I continued to learn embedded knowledge, but I was only watching videos and did not engage in systematic practical exercises.

At the end of the year, for various reasons, I left the company. After the New Year, I went to Beijing to look for a job. After half a month, I still hadn’t found a job, and there were very few interviews. I then took some time to think about my career plan. I was worried about not finding a job after training, as many classmates and online sources said training was ineffective. I had considered going to a training class right after graduation but gave up due to concerns about job prospects.

Ultimately, after careful consideration, I chose Wangdao. Regardless of whether I could find a job, at least I would have made an effort for my career.

Learning Experience at Wangdao

First of all, upon arriving at Wangdao, I realized that they do not guarantee employment. Before coming, one must be determined and have a goal to strive for.

Having always felt inferior for not being from a technical background, I was worried about keeping up with the pace when I first joined the training class. During the first month, I worked hard to learn, and after adapting to the rhythm, I allowed myself to relax a bit, as health is the foundation of revolution.

The first project was completed under the guidance of Teacher Tianming, who integrated the project into a company scenario and explained the completion process step by step. This gave me, with no work experience, some confidence. Since it was my first project and I didn’t understand the process well, it was quite challenging, but I managed to complete it successfully in the end.

Later, during the C++ learning phase, I would review the content taught by the teacher in my mind every day, understanding the background of each piece of knowledge. Although C++ knowledge is extensive and tedious, learning C++ was the most crucial part of my skill enhancement, and it was this knowledge that ultimately helped me secure a job.

By the time I reached the second project, I could clearly understand the project logic based on the development documents provided by the teacher and independently carry out the project development, showing significant improvement compared to the beginning.

During my time at Wangdao, I believe my greatest gain was clarifying my learning direction and path, establishing my own knowledge system. Even after leaving Wangdao, I can continue to learn on my own.

Job Search Process

Within two days of completing the course, I finished revising my resume. Initially, I didn’t submit my resume for the first week due to some issues. In the second week, I started submitting resumes and gradually received interview invitations.

During the job search, it is essential to review while submitting resumes, focusing on the requirements of the job. Attend interviews regardless of personal interest, mainly to practice. This way, when I encounter a job I like, I can respond more confidently.

I received an offer during my second interview and decided not to pursue further interviews because I wanted to start working sooner for certain reasons.

Overall, in whatever you do, do not be timid. As long as you put in the effort during the process, you will surely achieve a good result.
