Electronic paper is a display technology that mimics the printing effect of ink on paper. Its core advantages are its bistable and reflective characteristics, which mean it consumes very little power and relies on ambient light to display content.
In recent years, as LCD/OLED technology has matured and the global demand for energy conservation and environmental protection has increased, electronic paper display technology has attracted more and more attention from players in the display industry.
With the growing interest in electronic paper technology, it became one of the focal points at the recent Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition, showcasing electronic paper technology solutions and terminal applications.

E Ink Technology
As a leading enterprise in the electronic paper industry chain, E Ink Technology showcased its first wide-temperature full-color electronic paper, E Ink Marquee™, which uses a new four-color particle display system for more vibrant colors, specifically designed for outdoor and digital billboard applications.
The product can operate in environments ranging from -20°C to 65°C without a cooling system, with a maximum size of 75 inches and a display update time of 5 to 7 seconds.

E Ink Technology also launched the largest E Ink Spectra™ 6 product—75-inch full-color electronic paper, featuring high color saturation, improved display smoothness, and ultra-low power consumption, with an operating temperature range of 0 to 50°C.

At the Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition, E Ink Technology also collaborated with 101 upstream and downstream industry partners to showcase various electronic paper terminal products.
Rainbow Optoelectronics
Cholesteric Liquid Crystal (ChLCD) technology manufacturer Rainbow Optoelectronics highlighted the world’s first ultra-wide color gamut color electronic paper display, advanced ChLCD and optoelectronic technology integration solutions, and modular displays that can be spliced into large sizes.
Among them, Rainbow Optoelectronics’ ultra-wide color gamut color electronic paper display significantly improves display performance in bright light and indoor environments by enhancing panel reflectivity and contrast, not only strengthening color performance but also effectively reducing energy consumption;
Rainbow Optoelectronics’ globally launched Ming Display 2.0 combines ChLCD technology with commercial LCD screens, achieving dual functionality of electronic paper energy-saving mode and LCD animation playback;

TCL Huaxing
TCL Huaxing is also actively focusing on and promoting the development of electronic paper technology. At the Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition, TCL Huaxing presented several electronic paper technology solutions.
Among them, a 13.3-inch color electronic paper photo frame uses full-color electronic paper technology combined with reflective imaging principles to present 16 million colors without a backlight;

TCL Huaxing also showcased products such as a 4-inch electronic paper phone case, a 42-inch color electronic paper sign, and a 25.3-inch color electronic paper sign, all featuring ultra-low power full-color display, full ambient light reflection without additional backlight, and environmentally friendly electronic paper display screens.

The e-book reading device company Readmoo, in collaboration with E Ink Technology, launched the world’s first foldable screen color e-book reader, mooInk V.
The product features an 8-inch E Ink Gallery 3 color electronic paper panel, which is the first application of this model in the e-book reader field, boasting better color saturation, vibrancy, contrast, and reflectivity than the Kaleido series panels, with a resolution of 300 ppi. It is reported that E Ink Gallery 3 is the industry’s first mass-produced foldable color electronic paper panel, having passed 200,000 bending tests.

Realtek Semiconductor, in collaboration with E Ink Technology, launched a new generation of electronic paper price tags (ESL) demonstration design integrated into the panel substrate (System on Panel, SoP), lowering the development threshold for electronic paper price tags. In the same display area, the new generation design’s thin-film transistors (TFT) have been reduced by nearly 30%, and the flexible printed circuit board (FPC) has been reduced by 50%, meeting the market demand for sleek, narrow-frame electronic paper price tag products.

DKE Oriental Technology showcased a 75-inch full-color electronic paper, developed based on E Ink Technology’s E Ink Ripple technology, using a new generation of waveform and algorithm architecture, significantly improving the smoothness of image updates and color performance.

Additionally, Oriental Technology also exhibited electronic paper module products that use advanced wide-temperature technology, ensuring stable operation within a temperature range of -20°C to 40°C, designed for various indoor and outdoor environments; its refresh speed can be adjusted from 4 seconds for rapid response to 20 seconds for flexibility; in terms of display, the product also features a rich color gamut and delicate gradation performance.

Conclusion
From the Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition, it can be observed that electronic paper technology is continuously upgrading towards larger sizes, higher refresh rates, richer and more vibrant colors, and wider operating temperature ranges, driving the application of electronic paper from mainstream electronic shelf labels and electronic tablets to explore new emerging applications such as billboards and wearable applications.
Outside the venue, more and more panel companies are beginning to pay attention to the development of electronic paper business, with companies like Huike and AUO successively reaching new collaborations with E Ink Technology. Overall, electronic paper technology is continuously thriving.
Looking ahead, with ongoing technological advancements and the participation of more display manufacturers, electronic paper technology is bound to occupy a key position in the display industry.
