Previously, ICC conducted PTR testing, and the curtain for the fourth phase of the Wrath of the Lich King Classic is about to officially open. However, some equipment from the third phase or even earlier stages is still very useful in the fourth phase and can even be considered as graduation gear. 10. Might of the Dominion / Satrina’s Resilience Beetle
On the panel, there are indeed some higher item level trinkets, such as the 【Perfect Fang】 dropped by Sindragosa and the badge item 【Key of the Withered】. However, 【Might of the Dominion】 provides 216 stamina and can increase your maximum health by 5186 when used, with this active effect lasting for 15 seconds. This can provide a long duration of survivability enhancement, as most trinkets only have a 10-second effect. In some combat scenarios, Might of the Dominion may not be very useful, but when other trinkets are on cooldown, it is a very good choice.
9. Death Knight T9 Set (258 Item Level) Sartharion’s Armor / Korialstrasz’s Armor
Even in the fourth phase, the T9 set at item level 258 is still very powerful for Unholy DKs and can be used throughout ICC, especially when dealing with trash mobs.
Good news is that 【Portable Black Hole】 (24-slot bag) will also be introduced in the fourth phase, allowing each bag to provide 2 extra slots for additional gear.
8. Comfort of the Fallen / Comfort of the Defeated
【Comfort of the Fallen】 still has a place in phase four as it suits every healer depending on the duration of the fight. There are many other non-active triggered trinkets in P4, such as 【Althor’s Abacus】 or 【Pure Moon Dust】. Althor’s Abacus has 201 spell power and a passive triggered effect, while Pure Moon Dust has 11 more spell power than Comfort of the Fallen but only provides about 70 mana restoration over five seconds. Ultimately, comparing comprehensively, Comfort of the Fallen’s 168 spell power and equipment effect are superior.
7. Ancient Stone of the Horn
In WLK phase four, the beloved skeleton book remains a candidate for graduation gear, which is not surprising as the grimoire is an off-hand weapon, allowing you to use the skeleton at the start of the boss fight and switch weapons. This summoned minion can deal about 77 DPS within a minute, totaling approximately 4700 damage. Once you have Bloodlust or other buffs, this number can even soar to over 100 DPS!
6. Earlier Trinkets
These earlier trinkets are still very useful in the fourth phase. For example, 【Soul Keeper】 for Paladins and 【Dragon Soul Codex】 for Priests.
5. Comet’s Scar
【Comet’s Scar】 may not have been very prominent in the original version of WLK, and there is a reason for that. Because in the current game version, the item’s level has increased from the previous 239 to 252, a full 13 item levels. It remains very powerful before acquiring 【Emblem of Conquest】 and 【Viper’s Fang Skull】.
4. Holy Seal & Magic Seal
In phase four, for certain classes, if you want to upgrade your ranged gear, you might be disappointed. For example, Paladins will continue to equip 【Newborn Holy Seal】 to use 【Holy Light】. Meanwhile, Protection Paladins may have more options, but in some cases, they still have to use 【Holy Shield Holy Seal】. Then, Unholy DKs may be interested in 【Strangling Magic Seal】, but in many cases, 【Malicious Magic Seal】 will still be better.
3. Death’s Choice / Death’s Verdict
In phase four, 【Death’s Will】 is almost the best choice for all physical damage dealing classes. But the second option is not so obvious. Most graduation gear recommendations will list 【Viper’s Fang Skull】 as the second choice, but it is not always the best. In some scenarios, 【Death’s Verdict】 performs better. According to Sims scoring results, Death’s Verdict is at least the second BIS trinket for 7 top physical DPS specs.
2. Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings
In WLK phase four, the Odor Orange Hammer is on par with 【Scepter of the Royalty of Teron’gar】. However, it is important to note that unlike the original Orange Hammer, the current Orange Hammer has increased by 13 item levels. Healing Druids, Healing Shamans, or Healing Paladins can continue to use the 258 Orange Hammer in ICC.
1. TOC’s 272 Cloak
For most specialization classes, the 272 item level cloak is still very powerful. For a few specializations, there are certainly some better cloaks, such as the 277 item level 【Cloak of the Frostbinder】. But whether you are a tank, DPS, or healer, the cloak from the TOC chest may be the first or second graduation gear choice.
If you have a DPS cloak like 【Sylvanas’s Guile】, you might not replace it for the rest of your time in WLK.
