On the surface, the Dimensity 930 appears to be an upgraded version of the Dimensity 920, but in reality, it is not. This chip still uses TSMC’s 6nm EUV process, featuring 2 Cortex-A78 large cores and 6 Cortex-A55 small cores, but the main frequency of the large cores is only 2.4GHz, which is 100MHz lower than that of the Dimensity 920.

The biggest change is that the GPU has been upgraded to the latest Mali-G610, but it only has 3 compute units, so whether the Mali-G610MC3 can outperform the Mali-G77MC9 is still uncertain.

In summary, both the Dimensity 930 and Dimensity 1050 are entry-level 5G mobile platforms, with theoretical performance not matching Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 7 Gen1, and even falling short of MediaTek’s older platforms (Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 1200). They are suitable for smartphones priced around 1000 yuan, but if they appear in products priced over 2000 yuan, they will likely be met with disdain.
