1、Features:

The configurable Profibus slave to serial communication master gateway has the following features:

• Baud rate and parity can be changed via software;

• Can be installed on a 35mm DIN rail;

• Power supply: 819V AC or 835V DC;

• Operating temperature range:-40°C to 85°C;

• Supported serial communication protocols include:

o Simple ASCII protocol;

o Simple binary protocol;

o Modbus protocol;

o JBUS protocol.

Configuration:

You need to install Compositor SW67561 software on your PC to perform the following configuration operations:

• Define PROFIBUS parameters;

• Define Modbus line parameters;

• Define data frames for reading or writing.

2、New Project / Open Project:

Click the “New Project” button to create a folder containing the entire device configuration.

Device configurations can also be imported or exported:

To clone a programmable “ PROFIBUS slave / Modbus master converter” configuration for configuring another device in the same way, you need to keep the folder and all its contents;

If you want to clone a project to obtain a different version of that project, simply copy the project folder and rename it to another name, then open the new folder using the “Open Project” button.

3、Communication Settings:

This section defines the basic communication parameters between the serial bus and the Profibus bus.

Click the “Communication Settings” button on the SW67561 main interface (Figure 2) to pop up the “Communication Settings” window (Figure 3). This window is divided into two areas: Profibus settings area and serial settings area.

The fields in the serial settings area are described as follows:

• Checking the “RS232” field indicates the use of the RS232 serial line, while checking the “RS485” field indicates the use of the RS485 serial line;

• The “Baud Rate” field is used to set the transmission rate of the serial line;

• The “Parity” field is used to set the parity method of the serial line;

• The “Stop Bits” field is used to set the stop bit parameters for RS485;

• The “Timeout” field defines the maximum time the device waits for a slave response;

• The “Cycle Delay” field sets the interval time between two requests;

• In the “Protocol” sub-option, the following communication protocols can be selected:

Modbus RTU protocol

Modbus ASCII protocol

JBUS protocol

Simple binary protocol

Simple ASCII protocol

• Checking the “Write on Data Change” field indicates that PROFIBUS data will only be written to the serial line when the data value changes;

• Checking the “Cycle Write” field indicates that the gateway will continuously write data at regular intervals.

4、Access Settings:

Click the “Set Access” button in the SW67561 main window to pop up the “Set SDO Access” window.

This window is divided into two parts: “ProfiBus Input → Serial Read” (Figure 4) and “Serial Write → ProfiBus Output” (Figure 5).

The first part “ProfiBus Input → Serial Read” is used to read data received from the ProfiBus slave.

The second part “Serial Write →ProfiBus Output” is used to write data that will be sent to the ProfiBus slave.

ProfiBus Input → Serial Read

The meanings of each field are as follows:

• In the “Slave ID” field, define the Modbus device address to be read;

• In the “Type” field, select the type of register data to be read, available types include:

○ Coil Status (Coil Status);

○ Input Status (Input Status);

○ Holding Register (Holding Register);

○ Input Register (Input Register).

• In the “Address Register” field, define the starting address of the register to be read;

• In the “NPoint” field, enter the number of consecutive registers to be read;

• If the “SWAP” field is checked, the read data will be byte-swapped;

• In the “Address ProfiBUS” field, define the address of the ProfiBus;

• In the “Mnemonic” field, define the description information for this request.

5、Serial Write –> ProfiBus Output

The meanings of each field are as follows:

● In the “Slave ID” field, define the address of the Modbus device to be written;

● In the “Register Address” field, define the starting address of the register to be written;

● In the “NPoint” field, enter the number of consecutive registers to be written;

● If the “Swap” field is checked, the data to be written will have its byte order swapped;

● In the “ProfiBus Address” field, define the address of the ProfiBus;

● In the “Mnemonic” field, define the description information for this request.
