Highlights of OpenWrt 24.10:

1. Many components have been upgraded from older versions, for example, the kernel has been upgraded from Linux Kernel 5.15 to 6.6.

2. TLS 1.3 protocol support is enabled by default.

3. mbedtls has been upgraded to version 3.6, which includes support for TLS 1.3.

4. Docker users rejoice: the new version activates POSIX access control lists and filesystem security attributes on devices with large flash storage.

4.1. Additional note: POSIX is applicable to all targets without the small_flash feature flag, which is set for ath79/tiny, bcm47xx/legacy, lantiq/ase, lantiq/xrx200_legacy, lantiq/xway_legacy, ramips/mt76x8, ramips/rt288x, ramips/rt305x, and ramips/rt3883.

5. Kernel support for multi-path TCP is activated on devices with large flash storage.

6. Improved support for Wi-Fi 6/802.11ax and preliminary support for Wi-Fi 7/802.11be.

7. Enhanced support for Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP).

8. Reminder: OpenWrt 24.10 no longer supports APK packages using OPKG; only the main branch has switched to APK. For details, see: OpenWrt’s decision to migrate the package manager from opkg to apk.

Device Support Information:

Currently, OpenWrt 24.10 supports over 1970 devices. In addition to the devices supported by OpenWrt 23.05, the new version adds support for over 100 new routers, including the OpenWrt One router.

Known Issues:

1. The LED for devices equipped with Airoha AN8855, such as the Xiaomi AX3000T, is not yet supported, rendering the switch LED function ineffective. This issue will be fixed in the upcoming OpenWrt SNAPSHOT and OpenWrt 24.10 sub-version.

2. On some devices equipped with the ath10k chipset, 5GHz Wi-Fi is unavailable. Affected devices include TP-LINK Archer C60 v1, C6 v2, etc.

3. Some MT7530 switches have unstable Ethernet links; users experiencing instability should disable Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) as a temporary solution.

4. Kernel warnings in the ath10k-ct driver at startup can be ignored: WARNING: CPU: 3 PID: 1695 at backports-6.9.9/net/mac80211/main.c:270 ieee80211_do_open+0x4e8/0x5e0 [mac80211].
