A Multitel MTE 270 EX telescopic truck-mounted platform was recently delivered to Martin Gru, a model strategically chosen by the company for its cold rental fleet for the industrial and maintenance sectors. The platform was used for a special maintenance project on the bell tower and roof tiles of the Church of Santa Giulia in Migliarina di Carpi (Modena), demonstrating the vehicle’s versatility even in particularly delicate environments.
The church, designed in the 19th century by architect Achille Sammarini, was among the buildings rendered unusable by the 2012 Emilia earthquake, which also caused severe damage to the nearby Church of the Conversion of St. Paul the Apostle in Budrione. It features a simple gabled façade with two wings corresponding to the side naves, the main portal protected by a tiled portico supported by square-based columns, and the bell tower located laterally on the rear right side. The interior is divided into three naves and retains valuable features, despite the damage sustained during the earthquake. After only temporary interventions in the immediate post-earthquake period, maintenance and safety operations are currently underway, which are also essential for protecting the square in front, which is still popular with residents.
The platform that Martin Gru has chosen for its cold rental fleet and which was used for the maintenance work on the church is the MTE 270 EX, mounted on a 3.5-ton IVECO Daily. It features: 27 m of working height, up to 17 m of horizontal outreach (100 kg) and 12.30 m (250 kg), a 400° rotating turret and a ±90° self-leveling basket, automatic stabilization and closing, a highly rigid aluminum boom, the MUSA (Multitel Self Adapting Outreach) system, hoses and cables protected inside the boom, and remote telemetry for monitoring and diagnostics.
Multitel Pagliero’s collaboration with Martin Gru stems from a good relationship established with regional sales manager Filippo Rimondi. In addition to the newly acquired MTE 270 EX, Martin Gru has also added an MZ 250 and an MXE 170 (both mounted on Piaggio Porter chassis) to its fleet. Martin Gru’s owner, Martin Realdon, stated: “The collaboration with Multitel began with Filippo Rimondi, who quickly demonstrated reliability, quick response, and proactive solutions. We chose Multitel Pagliero because they manufacture high-quality equipment, offer a comprehensive product range to meet various needs, and most importantly, they are always there to help when we need it. Reliability, technical expertise, and timely support are crucial for us.”
Founded by Martin Realdon, Martin Gru boasts extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of construction cranes, complemented today by a professional rental service that includes: construction cranes up to 40 m high and 50 m outreach, pantographs for industrial use, generators from 3 to 65 kW, aerial platforms up to 27 m (operable with a category B driving license), mini-excavators, and complementary machinery. Martin Gru’s rental fleet comprises over 130 vehicles, including aerial platforms, cranes, scissor lifts, mini-excavators, and generators, primarily provided on a cold rental basis to industrial and maintenance customers. The MTE 270 EX strengthens the fleet with high performance, ease of use, and operational flexibility, confirming Martin Gru’s strategy of focusing on reliable and versatile machines for the rental market.
