Note from IT Home: Tape Out refers to the process of converting the designed layout of an integrated circuit (IC) into an actual physical chip, similar to a production line, through a series of manufacturing steps.

The official has not disclosed more details, but the media speculates that this chip will be manufactured by TSMC and could be a next-generation flagship smartphone SoC or a custom ASIC chip for NVIDIA’s NVLink Fusion system.

During the keynote speech themed “AI Without Boundaries, Intelligence Without Limits,” Cai Lixing reviewed MediaTek’s 28-year development history, stating that in the past decade, MediaTek has shipped over 20 billion chips for end devices, covering a wide range from smartphones to edge devices. Cai Lixing also mentioned that after adopting the 2nm process, MediaTek will further utilize TSMC’s more advanced A16 and A14 node technologies in the future.

PS: Since the tape out is in September, it is likely the next-generation Dimensity 9600. The current Dimensity 9500 is expected to still use TSMC’s 3nm process.
