According to a report by FOSSBRTES, users will soon be able to run Linux on iPhones through a dual boot feature, similar to Android devices. Currently, jailbreakers and developers Raffaele and mcg29 have published detailed instructions on their Github page on how to dual boot 64-bit iOS devices.

The instructions include: partitioning and restoring the root filesystem, creating a custom ramdisk, modifying filesystem partitions, and detailed steps to boot the device.

Although the listed content mainly focuses on the steps for iOS partitioning, users can also use the same commands to dual boot Linux and Android kernels.

Now that there is a suitable Linux kernel available for booting, we believe that Linux dual boot support on iOS devices will be seen soon. The triple boot with iOS, Android, and Ubuntu Touch on the iPhone is also not far off.
It is worth mentioning that Raffaele recently shared a tweet indicating that he has successfully quad-booted an iPad Mini 2 with iOS 11.3.1 as the main operating system.

However, for those who want to try following these instructions, it is recommended to do so on a spare device for safety.
