“Hello, I am a staff member from the Emergency Management Bureau of Yushui District. We have detected a violation of fire regulations in your jurisdiction through the digital supervision platform for electric welding operations. Please verify the situation…” Recently, staff responsible for the digital supervision platform reported a violation alarm in the Maojia Management Office area of Chengbei Street to community workers, who were then dispatched to confirm and address the issue.
In March of this year, the digital supervision platform for electric welding operations in Yushui District officially went live. This platform leverages cutting-edge IoT technology, as well as big data and mobile internet information technology, to establish an efficient and precise supervision system. One of its core highlights is the installation of integrated chips on electric welding equipment, achieving a real-time intelligent supervision closed loop of “person, certificate, machine” at the work site. Utilizing IoT technology, the platform can monitor electric welding equipment across the district 24/7, keeping track of the operational status of the equipment at all times. Additionally, with AI technology, the platform can intelligently analyze images and videos submitted for fire operations, accurately identifying potential fire hazards, significantly improving the efficiency and accuracy of hazard detection.
“First scan the code, then declare, take photos, and finally start the operation…” In an electric welding workshop in Chengnan Street, Master Zhang completed the operation declaration through a mobile app on the digital supervision platform for sporadic electric welding operations before starting work, capturing photos and videos of the surrounding area. The platform quickly verified his qualification information, the safety of the surrounding environment, and the availability of firefighting equipment through AI pre-review, providing detailed feedback to the reviewers, who ultimately determined whether to approve the application. Soon, Master Zhang received a green code indicating approval from the platform, allowing him to proceed with the electric welding operation. “With this platform, the entire declaration process has become convenient and efficient for users, and for us reviewers, it has eliminated the previous back-and-forth offline verification process, saving a lot of time,” said Wan An, a staff member responsible for platform review in the Dongfeng Management Office of Chengnan Street.
Since the platform officially launched in March, a total of 778 electric welding devices have been included in digital supervision, with a total of 4,792 declarations, 4,787 reviews, 4,395 approvals, and 392 rejections (data as of July 17). To date, there have been no fire incidents caused by violations of fire regulations in our district, and urban fire incidents have significantly decreased year-on-year, demonstrating the effectiveness of the supervision.
The successful application of the digital supervision platform for electric welding operations is a microcosm of our district’s innovative exploration in the field of safety production supervision. Moving forward, our district will continue to improve the platform’s functionality, further expand its coverage to include all equipment related to electric welding enterprises under the supervision system. At the same time, we will strengthen safety training and education for operators, enhancing their safety awareness and operational skills to reduce the occurrence of safety accidents from the source. This will help maintain a stable and positive safety production situation in our district, providing strong support for the high-quality development of the economy and society.
