Installing Raspbian on Raspberry Pi 3

Raspbian is the official recommended operating system for the Raspberry Pi, based on Linux and pre-installed with many useful tools. For more information about the Raspberry Pi, you can ask Baidu or visit the official website. Today, we will mainly look at the system installation. Besides the officially recommended one, the Raspberry Pi also supports other systems, such as Ubuntu, Windows 10 IoT version, etc.

Since the system for the PI3 is installed on an SD card, the first preparation work is:

– An SD card with more than 8GB capacity,

– An SD card reader,

– USB keyboard and mouse,

– Display device; here I use a 50-inch TV connected via HDMI,

– Raspberry Pi 3 kit.

– A PC (to install the SD card formatting tool),

– Power supply.

First, you need to format the SD card.

Download the latest version of NOOBS (version 1.9.3, released on September 23, 2016).

After extracting the NOOBS compressed package,

copy all files to the root directory of the SD card.

Insert the SD card into the PI3 and correctly connect other interface devices. Connect the TV screen and PI3 with an HDMI cable. After powering on, the system will boot, and you can also choose the system to install. Here we choose Raspbian.
