Haina Cloud is a digital city IoT technology platform. Relying on the Haina Cloud Xinghai digital platform, the company has built multiple application scenarios including urban brain, digital emergency and urban lifeline, digital municipal services, digital twin BIM/CIM, digital city governance, digital community/park, and digital security, empowering the digital transformation of urban life, economic digitization, and governance digitization. It has now grown into an excellent enterprise in the fields of digital cities, new urban construction, and “AIoT”.

2. Case Overview

The AI-based IoT platform solution closely aligns with major application needs and system characteristics in the IoT field, aiming to build a perceptive, secure, and intelligent IoT platform. It addresses the characteristics and needs of massive heterogeneous IoT devices, multi-source data, and diverse application scenarios. Starting from the non-deterministic, highly mixed, and strongly correlated features of IoT, it focuses on key issues such as efficient ubiquitous access for massive devices, multi-source data integration, and precise target detection. The AI-based IoT platform is constructed, and typical demonstration applications such as smart communities/parks/cities provide users with convenient services and secure governance.

(1) To address the efficiency and security issues in traditional IoT platforms when integrating massive heterogeneous devices across different services, a universal and efficient open framework for the IoT platform is proposed based on edge computing and blockchain technology, creating a highly generalized platform that supports seamless secure access for massive devices.

(2) To tackle the problem of information silos in multimodal IoT data that cannot meet the seamless service interaction needs, methods for data integration of multi-source IoT information (text/graphics/video/audio) and data feature extraction are proposed. This can construct a knowledge graph of people, events, objects, and situations based on various information like behavior preferences, user profiles, and surrounding environments, forming self-learning, adaptive capabilities that actively interact with users.

(3) To address the lack of high-precision algorithms for intelligent analysis of IoT data and the inability to adapt to specific service needs, research is conducted on a highly generalized target detection algorithm based on global features and deep learning technology.

(4) To enhance the application effectiveness of scene services and governance, and improve user experience, innovative application scenarios and service models are provided, offering convenient IoT service capabilities and secure comprehensive community governance capabilities, with demonstration applications launched in several medium-sized communities.

3. Application Effectiveness

(1) Designed and proposed a universal and efficient IoT platform framework, establishing an open IoT platform that has integrated over 200 types of devices, with over 2.8 million terminal devices connected, and more than 100 integrated ecological partners;

(2) Constructed artificial intelligence analysis algorithms involving 10 application scenarios including personnel, vehicles, and events;

(3) For special scenarios such as indoor/outdoor and small faces, the automatic face recognition accuracy can reach 85%;

(4) The platform has the capability to quickly connect devices from different manufacturers across multiple scenarios, achieving a 60% reduction in connection costs, a 30% reduction in development cycles, realizing interconnectivity of city-level cross-scenario devices, saving enterprise R&D costs and development cycles.

The construction of this project, from the perspective of government governance, will greatly enhance the local basic public service capabilities. This project aims to break through key technical issues and will promote breakthroughs in smart communities, smart residential areas, smart cities, IoT, and artificial intelligence in Qingdao. From the scene, it will provide efficient, professional, and intelligent public service capabilities.

4. Application Scenarios

Smart Bridge Scenario: Firstly, the introduction of the platform has improved the informationization level of bridge management in Qingdao. Secondly, it has enhanced the efficiency and technological level of bridge maintenance work. Finally, it can monitor structural diseases, ensuring the safety of bridge operations.

Smart Community Scenario: In various smart communities in Qingdao, relying on this project, multiple smart community scenario solutions such as smart security, smart parking, and smart services have been constructed, allowing real-time control of the community’s people, events, and objects. Using big data analysis to optimize resources and respond quickly, energy consumption has decreased by 35%, repair rates have decreased by 80%, labor costs have decreased by 20%, and operation and maintenance costs have decreased by 35%, achieving optimal community operation, making residents’ lives safer, more convenient, and more technological, while property management becomes smarter and more efficient. In the renovation of old communities in Jiaozhou, as of now, Haina Cloud has participated in the renovation of 24 communities, covering 227 buildings, benefiting 8,066 households and 26,000 residents. After the renovation, the efficiency of residents’ lives, property services, and government management has significantly improved, reducing the costs of property and operation management personnel by 50%, safety risks by 90%, service satisfaction by 90%, public safety event traceability rate by 100%, fire hazards with 100% early warning, and community emergency response by 100%.

Smart Town and Street Scenario: The 5G + Wangtai Full-View Internet and Smart Town and Street Monitoring Service Platform adheres to the principles of data fusion, resource sharing, and decentralized governance, constructing a unified smart city governance and service platform for Wangtai Street. This platform enables collaborative work and resource sharing among multiple departments such as urban management, emergency response, land, water resources, and comprehensive governance. Since its trial operation at the end of August 2021, Wangtai Street has successfully assessed and warned over 30 illegal burning incidents, more than 700 street vendor incidents, over 3,000 illegal parking incidents, 50 illegal dumping incidents, and many other illegal activities through this platform, greatly improving work efficiency and saving nearly 20 million yuan in unnecessary losses. Additionally, through video monitoring, awareness has been raised, acting as a warning for residents’ illegal behaviors, reducing the occurrence of such behaviors from the source.

5. Main Innovations

The IoT platform is not just about developing a simple software system, but rather an intelligent platform that connects smart hardware with application software, linking users and devices, innovating business services and management, thereby constructing and managing scene ecosystems.

1. Technological Innovation

(1) To address the characteristics of numerous and diverse hardware devices with non-standardized interfaces, intelligent gateways supporting large-scale heterogeneous IoT device ubiquitous access have been developed, breaking through traditional IoT platform bottlenecks such as low efficiency and poor intelligent analysis accuracy during device access, laying a solid foundation for efficient data aggregation and application execution.

(2) Providing cross-media unified perception capability is a core and hot issue in intelligent information processing. This project extracts features such as time, location, personnel, sequence, and relationships from multimedia data, and uses technologies like knowledge graphs to automatically construct user profiles, quickly discover emergencies, and predict development trends, achieving early warning of safety hazards.

(3) To achieve precise detection of targets and overcome the challenges of high-precision 3D reconstruction in large dynamic scenes, scene dynamic modeling and multi-target tracking are integrated with high-level semantic understanding of large dynamic scenes, reducing the impact of data collection noise, data compression and transmission distortion, lighting, and occlusion on target detection performance. At the same time, it addresses the complex aggregation changes of crowds in large dynamic scenes, achieving crowd detection, crowd scale and density estimation, crowd attributes, behaviors, and text content recognition in visual perception environments, researching the identification and cross-scene tracking of sensitive individuals and vehicles in physical space video monitoring data, and modeling the types/intensity of sensitive crowd behavior relationships dynamically.

2. Management Innovation

Users of the IoT open platform often involve multiple entities such as government, property management, software and hardware service providers, and end-users. To ensure smooth collaboration in the use of IoT data and business, blockchain technology is introduced into the IoT platform to create a decentralized, secure, reliable, and tamper-proof mutual trust system.
