On September 12, blogger Digital Chat Station reported that BOE has showcased a 1.5K high refresh rate LCD screen, with a size of 6.74 inches, a resolution of 2720×1224, supporting high refresh rates of 120Hz/144Hz, featuring RGB independent pixel arrangement, and boasting 446 PPI, with display clarity comparable to conventional OLED at 600 PPI, and a maximum brightness of 1500 nits, with improved motion blur.
The blogger did not disclose which manufacturer will use this LCD screen.Currently, mid-to-high-end models in the Android camp have fully transitioned to OLED, with LCDs only used in a few budget and low-cost devices.

Compared to OLED, one of the biggest advantages of LCD is eye protection. Currently, there are two common dimming methods for controlling screen brightness on mobile phones: DC dimming and PWM dimming.
Since PWM dimming is essentially a “bright-dark-bright-dark” process, controlling the flicker frequency, duration of brightness and darkness, and brightness fluctuations can achieve the effect of adjusting brightness, but this inevitably leads to flickering or what is known as flicker.
In contrast, LCD screens use DC dimming, which adjusts the current intensity of the backlight to change screen brightness. This method does not require alternating flickering, making it relatively more eye-friendly, which is one of the key reasons why LCD supporters stick to LCD screens.
However, since LCD screens require a backlight module, they are thicker than OLED panels, do not support under-display fingerprint sensors, and may not be able to accommodate future mainstream under-display cameras, which is why OLED has become the mainstream in the mobile phone industry.
