Discipline Introduction
The Information Engineering major is a cutting-edge discipline based on electronic information technology and information processing, focusing on information collection, processing, transmission, embedded system design, and industrial internet applications., providing core technical support for the construction of the new generation of information infrastructure and the development of strategic emerging industries in the country, and is an important support for the “5+1” modern industrial system construction in Sichuan Province. The major focuses on cultivating high-quality engineering and technical talents with the ability to handle “complex environmental perception information processing” (such as data collection and information processing in scenarios like radar and remote sensing) and “intelligent perception and control system design” (such as embedded systems and intelligent IoT hardware development) with both software and hardware skills.

Major Advantages
This major is a national-level first-class major, a characteristic major in Sichuan Province, a pilot for the excellent engineer education training program, and a provincial-level application demonstration major.. It leads the construction of the “Sichuan Provincial Off-Campus Practice Education Base for College Students” and participates in the construction of the “Sichuan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Flexible Communication Networks in New Power Systems,” collaborating with leading industry enterprises to create four industry-university-research collaborative innovation centers focused on electronic technology and sensor detection. Relying on a national-level teaching team and the Intelligent Perception and Embedded Systems Laboratory, it deeply integrates the discipline group of “Intelligent Equipment and Industrial Internet,” forming outstanding advantages in key technology areas such as intelligent perception equipment development and industrial IoT control systems, aiming to solve the “bottleneck” technical problems in the national electronic information industry and continuously supply high-level technical talents to companies like Huawei, ZTE, and China Mobile.

Course Structure
The courses covercomplex environmental perception and intelligent control system design and include cutting-edge courses such as radar principles, digital communication principles, and FPGA development, along with rich practical training and school-enterprise cooperation platforms. Core courses include computer communication and networks, digital signal processing, digital communication principles, microprocessors and embedded systems, modern digital image processing, sensor and detection technology, FPGA design and applications, etc.

Graduates of the Information Engineering major primarily find employment in three areas:the IT field of the information and communication industry, the electronic manufacturing IC field, and the ICT industry operators.:

IT Field of the Information and Communication Industry
Engaged in project management, software design, and development in companies involved in communication equipment R&D and intelligent system development, with representative companies including Huawei, ZTE, TP-LINK, and Dingtel Communication;

Electronic Manufacturing IC Field
Serving high-end manufacturing enterprises in semiconductors and intelligent terminals, engaged in embedded system development, hardware testing, and maintenance, with representative companies such as BOE, Jiuzhou Electronics, Haiguang Microelectronics, and China Electronics Technology Group;

ICT Industry Operators Field
In the IT departments of industries such as finance and telecommunications, responsible for business software development, network operation, and system integration, mainly employed by large state-owned enterprises like China Telecom and China Mobile.

In the past five years, the average further education rate of graduates has been nearly 40%, with the domestic further education rate reaching as high as 42% (2023 data), and the overseas further education rate being about 3%. Domestically, graduates mainly enter Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and Xi’an University of Electronic Science and Technology; overseas destinations include top institutions such as the National University of Singapore, University of Munich, and University of Southampton, focusing on cutting-edge fields such as information and communication engineering, integrated circuits, and artificial intelligence.

Outstanding Alumni and Graduates

Wang Yang, a student of the Information Engineering major graduating in 2025, a member of the Communist Party of China. Previously studied at the First Middle School of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province. Awarded the title of “Outstanding Graduate” and “Excellent Learning Award” at the school level. Won the national first prize in the 11th “Datang Cup” National College Student New Generation Information Communication Technology Competition, the national second prize in the 10th “Datang Cup” National College Student New Generation Information Communication Technology Competition, and the silver award in the 2nd Sichuan Province College Student Career Planning Competition,has signed a contract with China General Nuclear Power Group Cangnan Co., Ltd..

Zhu Peizhi, a student of the Information Engineering major graduating in 2025, a member of the Communist Party of China. Awarded the National Scholarship, Sichuan Province Comprehensive Quality A-level Certificate, school-level Outstanding Graduate, school-level Outstanding Student Cadre, school-level Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre, college-level Outstanding Student, and college-level Outstanding Student Cadre honors. In professional competitions, won the national second prize in the National College Student Electronic Design Competition, the national third prize in the National College Student Embedded Chip and System Design Competition, and the national third prize in the Lanqiao Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition; in research, has 2 papers indexed by EI Compendex; authorized 1 patent as the first inventor; received 1 excellent project in school-level technology projects; in work, served as the secretary of the “May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch” of Class 2 of the Information Engineering major in 2021, and previously served as the vice president of the Open Source Association, recognized as one of the “Top 100 Student Associations in Chengdu” in 2022.Has been recommended to Sichuan University for a master’s degree..

Sun Chen, during his undergraduate studies, received the 2024 National Scholarship (top 2% of the major) and has been awarded the title of Outstanding Student and Outstanding Student Cadre at the school level for three consecutive years. Won the national second prize in the National College Student Electronic Design Competition (top 3% nationally), the second prize in the Datang Cup New Generation Information Communication Technology Competition, and other three national-level awards. Recognized with five honors including Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre and Outstanding Association Backbone. During his tenure as the class Youth League branch secretary, his branch became the first school-level “May Fourth Red Flag Youth League Branch” in the college.Has been recommended to the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China for a master’s degree..
