1、Now I am starting to learn Weilin Touch Screens, but I don’t know what the differences are between Weilin Touch Screens and Siemens Touch Screens, and what their advantages and disadvantages are?
When it comes to the differences between Weilin Touch Screens and Siemens Touch Screens, there are mainly three major differences.
The first is the price aspect. For touch screens with similar hardware functions, Siemens Touch Screens are generally more expensive, while Weilin Touch Screens are cheaper. It can be said that the cost-effectiveness of Weilin Touch Screens is relatively high. For example, comparing Apple phones and Android phones, you will find that Apple’s prices are generally higher while Android phones are relatively cheaper. In other words, Android phones have a better cost-performance ratio, which is similar to what I just mentioned about Weilin Touch Screens.
The second is in terms of hardware. Although both are generally comparable, their systems do have differences. It is like how the Android system can easily manage phone files and transfer data conveniently, similar to a USB flash drive, while Apple’s iOS system is not as convenient for file management. When uploading files, you can only use Apple’s proprietary tool, iTunes. This is a difference in systems. For touch screens, different brands will definitely have differences in their internal system designs.
The third is in terms of software. The software for Siemens Touch Screens is very powerful, almost unrivaled, while the software and library for Weilin Touch Screens is their biggest shortcoming. This is also the main difference between European and American systems and Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese systems; the software gap is significant. Otherwise, Weilin’s competitiveness would be stronger. However, in our country, Weilin Touch Screens are still widely used, so learning about Weilin Touch Screens is also necessary.
2、In what scenarios can Weilin Touch Screens be applied? What functions can they perform? After learning about Weilin Touch Screens, what projects can I participate in?What functions can they perform? After learning about Weilin Touch Screens, what projects can I participate in?
Touch screens in industrial applications serve as intelligent devices that can both display information and communicate with PLCs to achieve various functions. For example, we can draw a button on the screen to replace a physical button for on/off control; we can use numerical input components to input data into registers in the PLC; we can also display the running status of the PLC, such as using lights to indicate the on/off status of Y, and can display real-time parameters such as the number of processed workpieces, production line speed, and motor current.
The benefit of combining PLCs with touch screens is that it can save many electronic components, such as buttons, toggle switches, intermediate relays, and time relays. We can also use configuration software to concentrate the field data of the entire system on the touch screen for easy observation and automatic recording. Its relatively small size and easy installation also make maintenance convenient, and its low cost is another advantage of touch screens.
After learning about Weilin Touch Screens, what projects can I participate in? The application of touch screens is quite broad, including the integrated application of PLCs, touch screens, and frequency converters, the application of touch screens in oil extraction machines, the application of PLCs and touch screens in cutting machines, and even the application of touch screens in machine vision, etc. Because the application of touch screens is very extensive, it is indeed necessary to learn how to use and apply Weilin Touch Screens well.
3、Does Weilin Touch Screens have any naming rules? How can I remember them more easily?
Weilin Touch Screens have cMT series, eMT series, MT(iE) series, MT(iP) series, TK series, etc. They are categorized by series, and each series contains different models. The naming of these models does not actually follow any fixed rules or patterns, and these touch screen models are named by Weilin during the design process. There is no need for us to memorize the models. For example, our Apple phones have older models like 3GS, 5, 5S, and newer models like iPhone SE, 7, 7 PLUS, etc.; their naming does not follow a certain pattern either. These models are named by Apple before leaving the factory, which is the same principle. If you have a touch screen, you will see these models labeled on the back of the touch screen, and when designing the touch screen interface in the software, you just need to select the designated model.
4、What are the benefits of the different I/O interfaces of Weilin Touch Screens? Where are they commonly used?
When we look at the sample manual, we will find that Weilin Touch Screens have several types of I/O interfaces, such as USB ports, Ethernet ports, and serial interfaces, which are commonly seen, as well as SD card slots, WiFi, CANBUS, audio output, and video input, etc.
For example, the USB Host interface greatly enriches the upload and download functions. We do not need to connect to the computer via a USB cable; we can directly connect a USB flash drive. In addition to using the USB port to upload and download programs, we can also insert an SD card into the SD card slot for program downloads. If you need to download programs to multiple touch screens, these two methods will be very convenient. Moreover, the USB Host interface also supports connecting USB devices such as keyboards and printers.
As for the Ethernet port, it can also be used for program uploads and downloads and can connect to devices with Ethernet ports, such as the S7-200 SMART PLC, which has an Ethernet port, allowing for communication control between them. The serial interface can have RS232 or RS485 ports, which can be used for communication control with PLCs, frequency converters, or other third-party devices.
In addition, the CANBUS interface can support the use of the CANBUS protocol to communicate with other third-party devices that support the CANBUS protocol. Many devices now already support the CANBUS protocol. WiFi allows for wireless connection between the HMI and monitoring systems. The audio output interface and video input interface serve the functions of audio parameter output and video input, respectively.
5、Are there any differences between Flash and ROM memory?
ROM memory generally contains data that is pre-written and can only be read during operation, but cannot be rewritten. Data stored in ROM is stable and does not change after power off; its structure is simple, and it is relatively easy to read, so it is commonly used for storing various fixed programs and data. Flash memory, on the other hand, is a type of EEPROM that can retain stored information for a long time without power. It has the characteristics of ROM, but also features high access speed and is easy to erase and rewrite.
6、We are currently using the Weilin TK6070IQ 7-inch touch screen, and now we want to switch to a larger screen.Which Weilin model would be better for a 10-inch screen? And it will not affect the previous communication with the PLC program? What are the principles for selection?
Currently using the WeilinTK6070IQ 7-inch touch screen, for the TK series touch screens, they are generally all below 7 inches. If you want to switch to a 10-inch touch screen, you can choose from the MT(iP) series, which has some models that are 10 inches, such as MT6103iP or MT6102iQ. Both of these models have the same I/O interfaces as the TK6070IQ, so they will not affect communication with the previous PLC, and the price difference will not be significant. Thus, you can choose either of these two models. If you do not consider the cost, you can also choose other high-performance touch screens, such as MT8102iE, MT8103iE, eMT3105P, etc. High-performance touch screens will be more expensive. How you choose depends on your own decision. For example, if you are currently using an iPhone 5S and want to switch to a larger screen, you might consider switching to an iPhone 6, 6s, 6s plus, 7, or 7 plus. These models have different configurations and prices, which also depends on whether you consider the price aspect.
