“The Shooting Vaults”,2015
Wool & metal rods
The Shooting Vaults Cathedral of Cahors, France
This art installation is made of metal rebar and wool yarn. Various arcs of different origins converge, blending with ancient architecture to shape a mixed, immaterial installation. It forms an ever-evolving star dome installation that evokes all the integrated dimensions of the surrounding fusion architecture. YokYok, along with volunteers, took 5 days to lay out 78 kilometers of hand-woven wool yarn.
YokYok is a creative team founded in Paris in 2015, led by architects Samson LACOSTE and Luc PINSARD. Their works focus on site-specific installation art, whether permanent or temporary, aimed at providing an emotionally immersive experience. YokYok believes that architecture and space can evoke emotions. They create unexpected effects through diversion, storytelling, and immersive experiences, proposing low-tech methods (as opposed to high-tech) and the genuine feelings and experiences brought by details.
