Eugenibach & Anna K Bach“Crown of Eyes“, 2025Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya
In the central hall of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC) in Madrid, at a height of six meters above the ground, stands the “Crown of Eyes” created by Eugenibach and Anna K Bach. This dreamlike circular sculpture, glowing with blue light, is a tribute to the Catalan legend and the great muralist Francesc d’Assís Galí (1880 – 1965).
The crown consists of a ring with a diameter of 12 meters, embedded with 16 reliefs that echo Galí’s “eyes” motif and correspond with the 16 columns supporting the dome. The crown hovers six meters high, fragile and light, reminiscent of the scaffolding Galí built during the mural painting. The entire structure is rendered in deep blue, resonating with the color of the sky at the highest point of the dome. The creators of this work are two architects.
