Canaan Technology’s Multiple Chip Customization Projects Enter Design Phase, Expected to Tape Out This Year

According to news from the semiconductor industry, on June 10, Canaan Technology stated during an institutional survey that multiple chip customization projects have entered the design phase in the first quarter of 2025 and are expected to tape out within this year.

The company provides design services for an MRAM control chip project, which is designed for logic control on a domestically developed process platform, achieving a breakthrough in domestic MRAM storage. Due to its cost advantages, it can gradually replace external FLASH and on-chip SRAM in low-speed application scenarios during subsequent SoC design processes. This chip is expected to undergo multiple iterations, presenting significant commercialization prospects.

In addition, the company has made several positive advancements in the development of multi-process platform IP. High-speed interface IPs such as DDR, SerDes, PCIe, MIPI, and USB based on the 28HKC+ process platform have completed verification and achieved mass production delivery, supporting high-performance scenarios such as data center AI acceleration chips and automotive SoCs. Furthermore, the aforementioned IP integrates advanced signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) designs, enhancing the reliability of the IP in complex electromagnetic environments.

On the 28HKD process platform, the entire line of DDR, SerDes, PCIe, MIPI, and USB IP has completed small batch verification for customers, and the newly added PSRAM and EMMC IP product lines further complement the company’s layout in the low-power storage interface field. Additionally, by optimizing IP interconnect efficiency with 3D packaging technology, the aforementioned IP adapts to Chiplet architectures to meet high bandwidth and low latency demands, assisting customers in achieving heterogeneous integration designs. In the field of high-performance analog IP, the company’s self-developed 4.5GHz fractional frequency divider phase-locked loop (PLL) provides key technical support for one-stop chip customization services across multiple process platforms, with wide applications in IoT, industrial control, consumer electronics, and network communications, offering customized clock solutions for various industries.
