In the height of summer, many people flock to the Western Sichuan Plateau, embarking on what can be described as a “top-tier summer” mountain adventure, with their destination being the Geni Snow Mountain. This snow-capped mountain, located in the Ganzi Litang County, stands majestically in the heart of the Hengduan Mountains, known as the “Heart of Hengduan.” The main peak, Gangbo Holy Land (Geni Peak), rises to an elevation of 6174.5 meters (as announced in 2023), making it the third highest peak in Sichuan. Geni Snow Mountain “Chasing Mountains” Tips – Classic Geni Southern Route Reverse Crossing
Route Overview:
Starting from Batang, passing through Zhawala Pass → Gemu Village → Reti Valley → Hangda Camp → Zeba Village → New Lenggu Temple → Geni Eye → Ranrikar Village → Little Cabin → Ilaka Viewing Platform → Geni Town → Blacksmith Mountain Pass, ultimately reaching Litang County, with a total distance of approximately 260 kilometers.

Arriving at the Reti Valley in Geni from Batang, a place very similar to Xinjiang, many people refer to this way of reaching Geni as “reverse crossing.”
Road Condition Tips:
1. The 12-kilometer section from Reti Valley to Hangda Camp has potholes; it is recommended to use SUVs or higher models, and sedans should proceed with caution.
2. There are no gas stations along the way, so be sure to fill up in Batang.
3. The average altitude is above 4000 meters, so be prepared for high-altitude protection (glucose oral solution, headache powder, Huoxiang Zhengqi liquid, portable oxygen bottles, etc.).
Shooting Suggestions:
1. Ground Position:
It is recommended to use a telephoto lens of 200mm or more to capture the scene of the one tree and the snow mountain, as a telephoto lens can enhance the visual impact of the snow mountain.
For shooting during golden hours like the sunrise on the mountain, be sure to use a tripod to ensure image quality.
2. Aerial Photography Techniques:
Drone flights in the Geni area are unrestricted (up to 500 meters).
It is recommended to ascend to 500 meters for aerial photography to obtain a unique bird’s-eye view.
Using multi-shot stitching techniques in post-processing can present a more grand panoramic view of the snow mountain.
3. Special Reminder:
In high-altitude areas, pay attention to keeping equipment warm (battery life will significantly decrease).
Arrive at the shooting position half an hour before sunrise, as the colors are more beautiful at that time.
Travel Suggestions:
1. Best Season: May to October, summer is especially good for viewing flower seas.
2. It is recommended to arrange 3 days and 2 nights for this route to fully appreciate the scenery along the way.
3. There is a large temperature difference in the plateau, so prepare clothing for all seasons.
