ECU and ECM are terms that refer to the computer boards.
The most commonly seen on the market is Bosch’s computer board, which occupies about 70% of the market. So what models of Bosch computer boards are there from National III, National IV to National V and VI?
EDC7UC31 EDC16UC40 EDC16C39
EDC17CV44/54 EDC17C53 EDC17C55
EDC17C63 EDC17C81 EDC17CV41

Among Bosch computer boards, EDC17CV44 and EDC17C55 have a significant difference, where CV is powered by 24V, more commonly used in large vehicles (commercial vehicles), while C is powered by 12V, used in small vehicles (passenger vehicles).
For Bosch’s computer board, the Bosch product number can be queried through the public account of the Common Rail Home for specific computer board models. The number 369 represents the place of origin, Suzhou, and the number after the place of origin is the production date of the computer board along with an 8-digit serial number that is the product serial number.
The last two rows, the first row is the model of the ECU, but does not specify which computer board it is; the second row is the customer number, which has no actual purpose.
△EDC7UC31 Computer Board
The above Bosch EDC7UC31 computer board is used to control the individual pump. The bottom end of the computer board is a cooling plate (used only during National III, already canceled during National IV), used to cool the computer board.
Bosch EDC7UC31 has three connectors:
Connector ① has 89 pins, mainly connecting to components on the vehicle side,
such as brake switch, neutral switch, fault diagnostic light, etc.;
Connector ② has 36 pins, mainly connecting to sensors on the engine side
such as: crankshaft camshaft sensor, boost pressure sensor, rail pressure sensor, coolant temperature sensor, etc.;
Connector ③ has 16 pins, mainly connecting to actuators on the engine side, such as metering valves, fuel injectors, etc.
△EDC17CV44 Computer Board
Bosch EDC17CV44/54 is currently the most common computer board in the National IV and V series, slightly larger than other computer boards (all other computer boards with two connectors are the same).
The EDC17CV44/54 computer board has two connectors, A connector and K connector. The A connector is used to connect to the engine side, with a total of 60 pins. The K connector is used to connect to the vehicle side, with a total of 94 pins.
The A connector engine harness connects crankshaft camshaft sensors, rail pressure sensors, fuel injectors, fuel measurement units, etc.; the K connector vehicle harness connects power supply, accelerator pedal sensor, clutch switch, air conditioning switch, brake switch, fault light, vehicle speed sensor, etc.
Common Bosch product numbers for EDC17CV44/54,
0281016894 corresponds to Weichai,
0281020190 corresponds to Hualing,
0281020171 corresponds to Xichai,
0281020181 corresponds to Zhaochai,
0281020292 corresponds to Heavy Truck,
0281020232 corresponds to Yangchai.
△EDC17C55 Computer Board
The above model is the EDC17C55 computer board, usually installed on light trucks or small vehicles.
The functions of the DEA seal include:
1. Dust and water prevention 2. Heat dissipation 3. Breathability (atmospheric pressure sensor)
To communicate normally with the ECU, we need to wire the computer board. Under normal circumstances, for use in the vehicle, it is necessary to connect the computer board’s power supply, grounding, T15, T50, CAN high, CAN low, or K-line. The pin definitions for various manufacturers may vary slightly, so please refer to the corresponding pin diagrams; this will be explained using the platform version circuit diagram and pin diagram.
