Are You Looking Forward to Elderly Care Robots?

With the aging population and rising consumption levels, elderly care robots have a broad market prospect. Nanjing, which is committed to building a “Robot City,” has seen many companies targeting this niche field, proactively laying out technological research and development. Yijiahe is one of them.

Are You Looking Forward to Elderly Care Robots?01View Scenarios

As people age, the elderly population experiences varying degrees of functional decline or even disability in perception, physical strength, and cognition.Elderly care robots can not only alleviate the burden of care on society and families but also support elderly individuals in living a dignified, independent, and high-quality life at home.

At the recently held Second Humanoid Robot and Embodied Intelligence Industry Conference, Yijiahe was awarded the 2025 Humanoid Robot Scenario Development Award for its rapid layout in the field of embodied intelligence.

Hao Junhua, the company’s director and vice president (rotating CEO), introduced that the application of the company’s embodied intelligence humanoid robots will focus entirely on high-end health care and home scenarios. In the high-end medical care sector, embodied intelligence humanoid robots can provide companionship, health monitoring, personalized health advice, and also have fall detection and emergency call functions, ensuring the safety and health of the elderly. In home scenarios, the robots can analyze user behavior to provide customized services, such as care for the elderly and children, and household management, effectively reducing family burdens and improving quality of life.

02Market Overview

As products continue to mature, Yijiahe, a robotics company headquartered in Nanjing, is accelerating its globalization efforts, with its developed embodied intelligence humanoid robots already being implemented in health care and home fields.“Japanese elderly care institutions are facing shortages of caregivers and rising costs. Embodied intelligence humanoid robots can replace or assist humans in daily health management, life care, and emotional companionship for the elderly, judging their emotional state through tactile skin feedback,” revealed Shuichi Hashimoto, general manager of Yijiahe’s Japanese partner MM International Inc. The two parties are jointly developing a low-center-of-gravity robot suitable for Japanese tatami environments, with plans to pilot in 2026.

According to the World Health Organization, it is estimated that by 2050, the global population aged 60 and above will reach 2.1 billion, including 426 million individuals aged 80 and above. The immense market potential has prompted many companies, including Yijiahe, to actively engage in the elderly care robot sector.

03Industry Insights

Unlike the “machine workers” on production lines, elderly care robots based in homes also need to have an appealing appearance, making them more acceptable and enabling natural human-robot interaction.Yijiahe’s embodied intelligence humanoid robots are equipped with industry-leading “smart brain controllers” and “bionic tactile skin” technology. The dynamic balance algorithm of the smart brain controller allows the robot to maintain stability on complex terrains such as slopes and gravel. Hao Junhua explained.

The bionic tactile skin technology achieves millimeter-level pressure perception through a multimodal sensor array, enabling the robot to have stronger interaction capabilities with humans, such as accurately identifying the grip strength when shaking hands with the elderly, adaptively adjusting support strength to gently assist the elderly, and even determining cleaning methods based on the fabric material.
