Silicon Labs (“Silicon Technology“) announced the launch of SiWx917Y ultra-low power Wi-Fi® 6 module with low power Bluetooth® (Bluetooth® LE) 5.4 functionality. As a successful second-generation wireless development platform, the SiWx917Y module is designed to help device manufacturers simplify the complex development and certification processes of Wi-Fi 6 devices. This product provides plug-and-play convenience for IoT device developers with pre-approval from global radio frequency certification.
The new SiWx917Y module features breakthrough energy efficiency while providing powerful wireless connectivity, advanced security, and a fully functional application processor, enabling device manufacturers to reduce design challenges, shrink product size, lower costs, and achieve profitability faster. The SiWx917Y module has been pre-certified to global regulatory standards and comes with an optimized antenna, eliminating the need for lengthy RF optimization and certification.

The SiWx917Y module integrates Wi-Fi 6, low power Bluetooth 5.4, ARM Cortex-M4 application processor, wireless network processor, large memory, and a rich set of peripherals in a compact 16 mm x 21 mm x 2.3 mm package. Its main features include:

The SiWx917Y module’s smart power management supports a connection sleep mode with current as low as 20μA and features a target wake time (TWT) function and a 60-second keep-alive interval. This enables IoT devices such as smart locks, thermostats, smart cameras, video doorbells, and industrial sensors to achieve battery life lasting several years. The integrated ARM Cortex-M4 processor, large memory, and peripherals also enable complex edge processing capabilities.
The module supports two operating modes: SiWG917Y for SoC (wireless MCU) mode, where customers can execute all application code on the module’s ARM Cortex-M4 core; and SiWN917Y for NCP (network coprocessor) mode, where customers can execute their applications on a separate MCU while the Wi-Fi module manages the communication functions.
